Who Gives Kudos:

This is John....among other duties(like composer and drummer) I'm usually the van driver.  Welcome to our myspace page!  I'm still a virgin myspacer, so feel free to let me in on any myspace hipster info.  The main reason why I'm taking the time to do maintain this space is, that I believe in this band and would like more people to hear us. We have been together for 9 years and throughout that time we have forge a strong musical and personal bond.  I think you can hear this. In the jazz/creative/etc. world a long-lasting "band" is a unique entity, so listener support and interaction really helps us keep it going.  Peace, John

John/Claudia Quintet,
The Claudia Quintet has been my favorite group since I first heard you play years ago at a masterclass at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL. Since then through high school and college I have shared your music with all of my growing group of friends and can honestly say most of them find it unique, refreshing, and enjoyable. I was definitely first in line when you came to the "Claudia Hall" at Chicago's Cultural Center a couple years ago. As a musician (I play saxophones) and recording engineer I can affirm and fully appreciate the sheer expertise of Claudia Quintet's individual musicians as well as the group as a whole. Each recording gets better and better in composition, performance, and sonic quality. Your latest release, "For" aurally sounds the best yet. The instruments sound true and tangible, the group well balanced, the stereo image is large, and it generally sounds like a high quality recording. Your engineer did a fantastic job and as always, it's just that much better with a talented group like Claudia. I should write to Cuneiform and urge them to invest more for future albums! Despite the length of this comment and risk of going overboard with praise, I just want to say that among all other kinds and styles of music I listen to (and I do listen to anything and everything) I am only ever completely satisfied with Claudia Quintet. Every aspect of the group is phenomenal and I hear something new every time whether it be a slight groove change, a melodic cell being elongated/shortened or changing instruments, or a timbrel change while listening to just one instrument for an entire song. Thank you so much for sharing your creativity and I look forward to future experiences with Claudia Quintet. Take care and best wishes.

Sincerely,
Kelly Askam
