As the month of May wraps up today, I must say it was a very good month for me.
First of all yesterday I completed my first week (ok it was a 4 day work week) at my new job. Yes, for those that haven't heard after 8 long months, a crappy part-time temp job making 66% less then I was used to and several interviews and rejections. I got a JOB! And its not just a "job", I love it.
I am working at Jefferson Wells, a Manpower Company as a Procurement Specialist and making 73% more then I was used to. Wheew. It is quite a relief to me. And I couldn't ask for a better job. My boss is cool and the company is really a nice atmphshere. It is a fairly young company so it is part of my job to implement some policies and procedures in the purchasing department. I am also for purchaising and procurring everything that goes into our worldwide offices- computers, office equipment, signs, office supplies, etc. I also do this for corporate - office supplies, coffee, creamer, computers, catering services, etc. Pretty much the buying functions I've done anywhere else its just different items and there is a little more accounting them I am used to but it will be good experience to brush up on it.
Jefferson Wells, is located in downtown Milwaukee, at the new Manpower building. The company just moved in last September. Yesterday I walked down to Riversplash on my lunch and got something to eat. Its exciting to be working downtown again and the commute is only 15-20 mins, so awesome. www.jeffersonwells.com

So that is my biggest, newest most awesome thing for May but the rest of the month was good to.
At the beginning of the month, Tom, Susan, Hot Rod, and I drove to Kentucky to attend the Kentucky Derby. We actually got there on Friday and went to pre-derby festival, where we saw the B52s for free! Then the next day was the crazniess of the derby. The derby was fun. We mostly sat around and drank. In fact, I drank 6 mint juleps. We really only watched the official "derby" race. It was excited but also tragic with the injury of Eight Belles. Not sure if it was the sun and the alchohol or because I do get pretty emotional when dogs or horses get hurt in movies.
The Monday after that we were going to see The Presidents of the United States of America which is one of Tom's favorite bands. The Thursday before we left I had signed me and Tom up to a studio session with PUSA through 102.1. So before the show we got to see them play a couple songs accoustically then. Then Tom had them sign his cigar box guitar and we got our picture taken with them. Oh, and we got 4 free tickets to the show. The show was really energetic!
Monday, May 12th- I saw M.I.A. at Turner Hall. It was a sold out show but I was able to buy 1 of the last tickets that was available. I was really excited to see this show. And it was awesome. You may know the song "Paper Planes" that samples The Clash song.
On Saturday, May 17th, I drove down to the Alstate Arena to see The Cure. Of course, The Cure is my favorite band and there was no way I was missing it. And even the $80 ticket I bought to sit on the floor was worth the price(remember I was making crappy $ back then so $80 was a lot from my paycheck). Robert Smith looked great and sounded great even with a sore throat. The concert was a full 3 hours with 3 encores. And at least 2 -3 songs from all 13 of their albums. And it wasn't all the well known songs but the deep cuts. It was great.
Sunday, May 18th- The Hives. I was able to score $10 tickets on craigslist.com. The show was really good. Not much to say about it, I think I was saturated by too many shows, is that possible. Naaah!
And there were baseball games in there too.
So all in all, May was a good month.
