....................
We had to be checked out of our
hotel by noon, but no one seemed to be waking up besides’ me. I took a shower
and packed up my suit case. Eventually Kristen and Chris awoke and showered. I
let Angelic Form sleep, but finally Kristen woke him up. Our room was trashed
and we intended to keep it that way since the maids had left our room open on
Monday. I looked in the fridge and the only thing I wanted to eat out of there
was the cheesecake. I also saw that in total we had a six pack of drinks left.
I gathered the drinks and the cheesecake. I noticed that we did not have
silverware to eat the cheesecake with. Kristen told me that I would have to
walk down to the gas station. I beelined down and hurried back. When I got
back, Kristen looked at her phone and informed me that actress Farrah Fawcett
had passed away. I did not have time to mourn the loss of the original angel,
and instead I helped everyone gather our belongings. Kristen went and checked
out of the hotel. When she got back she informed us that once we shut the door,
our keys would not work.
Since we had about 6 hours to spare
before our flight, we decided to take one last advantage of the hotel and swim
in the pool for the rest of the day. I decided that since my stuff was already
packed, that I would just lay by the pool and eat cheesecake. At first this
idea was fine, but when I saw everyone else in the pool and I felt how hot it
was getting, I knew I wanted to swim. I went to the car and quickly changed
into my swim suit. I ran back to the pool and jumped in. Angelic Form was
determined to get some sun, so he got out of the pool and went to lie out and
tan. I decided that I would lay in the water and attempt to tan more so than I
already was. A few hours later, I was feeling it. I got out of the pool and ate
part of Kristen’s cheesecake and drank about 2 bottles under cover. Angelic
Form drank one. I took my camera and took some final pictures of us all
swimming before we were to leave the tropical city for good.
Eventually the hour struck and it
was time to go. We got out of the pool and dried off. Though we knew we had a
flight to catch, our hunger got the best of us and we found ourselves right
back at Chick-Fil-A. Once again, Angelic Form got nuggets and I got a club. As we
ate, the minutes were ticking by. We finished our food and the three of us knew
it was time to part from Chris and head to the airport. We said goodbye to our
new found friend and Kristen’s new boyfriend and drove off. I thought that the
airport was off of I-4, so I hit “most use of freeways” on the GPS. We beelined
everywhere the GPS took us. We were even stopped by a train in the way for a
minute. As we approached the airport, we heard the radio DJ come on the air and
inform us that the pop legend, the king of pop himself, Michael Jackson, had
died.
We were in shock and did not
believe it. Kristen called her mom and I called Mother Hubbard and found out
that it was true. With this death, it was a total of 3 deaths in Hollywood this
week. Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, and now Michael Jackson. Though we were in
shock, we had to return the car now. We got to the car return and when Kristen
saw the spikes, she freaked out. We ended up driving back around because I had
to get out and ask if the spikes were dangerous. We returned the car and had to
wait while they examined it. After they gave us the okay, we grabbed our
luggage and ran inside to check our bags. Though we were there 30 minutes
early, the lady told us that we could not check our bags and that we would have
to wait till morning and take another flight. I guess you have to be at the
airport 45 minutes early for them to check you in. Kristen asked if there was a
red eye flight and the lady said that we had the final flight of the night.
There we were, trapped at the
airport with no way home until 8 am the next morning. The lady said that she
could put us on standby for free, but if we wanted guaranteed places on the
flight that it would be $50 from each of us. We decided not to take chances and
I paid my last $100, Angelic Form paid $40 and Kristen paid $10. Our flights
were switched; however, it appeared that it would be a LONG night. We sat in
the terminal and I tried to get online to see if there was anything we could
do. Kristen tried to get on WOW to see if she could find anyone. Kristen and
Angelic Form ended up running off together, leaving me all alone with the bags.
They eventually came back with Starbucks for me as I read online about Michael
Jackson’s passing. Angelic Form decided that he was going to buy Kristen the
final book in this series that she had been reading while on this trip. He ran
off and once again left me. They came back and sat down on this bench that was
20 feet from me laughing and going through pictures on my camera.
Meanwhile, I was trying to get a
hold of MC and Nathan to see if they could house us for the night. I called MC
over and over and he did not pick up. Finally, I managed to get a hold of him
and beg him to come and get us. Though he did not want to wake up at 6 AM, MC
agreed to come and pick us up. I was ever so grateful for helping us out. MC
and Nathan met us down by luggage claim and drove us to their apartment. Tonight
we all knew would be low key. The funny part was that we were all wishing that
we had one more day in Orlando, and low and behold we had got it. What we had
also got was extremely burnt from the sun that day. Angelic Form removed his
shirt and decided to become eye candy for the night. Angelic Form had me rub
lotion all over his form. He claimed that I was enjoying it, but I was simply
trying to help him since he was so stupid and laid out in the sun all day. We
spent the remainder of the night talking and I ended up narcing early. Kristen
stayed up and read her book. Angelic Form stayed up and texted until he passed
out. With all this excitement I started to wonder if we would ever make it home….
[End of Day 8]
