Girls Rock & Girls
Rule NJ....
.. ..
The Bloomingfields (NJ) Janet Donofrio of The Bloomingfields sings
rousing originals like “You Lied
to Me,” “You’re Bad for Me,” and other uptempo rockers about love and marriage.
....
Janet first started writing and performing with
guitarist-husband, David Rieth and bassist, Brendan Mee in the East Village
back in the ‘80s, playing clubs like CBGBs, Kenny’s Castaways, and ABC No Rio.
Now joined by Andy Day on lead guitar and John Packel on drums, the band writes
and rehearses in the Bloomfield Avenue basement studio of Janet and David’s New
Jersey home. Their songs “Email My Boss,” “Little Kung Fu Shop,” One Fine
Summer’s Day,” and “Cold Snap” are included on the Parents Who Rock CDs, Go Play Outside and Let ‘Em Play on Snowdome Records. Parents Who Rock is a Montclair,
NJ-based non-profit association of musicians who volunteer their time and
talents onstage and behind the scenes to raise money for organizations
throughout the community.

Edible Red (NYC) Led by firecracker front woman Collette McLafferty,
edibleRed is an eclectic New York City-based five-piece collective of atypical musicians.
The memorable songs the band creates can be heard on their debut CD, Welcome to
My Bad Behavior, released on veteran indie label Select Records. Since thier
label debut release, they have been featured on MTV Latino, FUSE, KROCK2,
Oxygen Network, Showtime and Maxim Radio. (myspace.com/ediblered)
G-SPOT (CORE; NYC) - In addition to being the Founder of Girls Rock
& Girls Rule, G-spot's front woman Gail Silverman is a sexy siren with a
spiritual twist. She commands her audience's attention by juxtaposing her sassy
wit & naked vulnerability, her magnetism & enlightenment, her wrath
& passion, with a no-holds barred delivery of emotion. G-spot has been on
the NYC Indie music scene for more than ten years. Historically G-spot has
offered listeners a punky, rock-pop, hi-energy wild roller coaster ride that
takes listeners from one peak to the next, leaving them catching their breath
& wanting more. Think Janis Joplin meets the Donnas, with an attitude &
an edge reminiscent of rock divas such as Joan Jett.
More recently Gail has been delving into new material, playing unplugged
performances that explore life's big questions and mysteries and showcases a
slightly softer side. Her most recent release is the new single
"Faith", gorgeous and relatable in its message and simplicity, it
builds to a lush finish and crosses genres with a broad audience appeal hitting
them right at their heart center. Moving forward expect lots of new
material filled with unexpected twists and turns that are signature
Gail/G-spot, and more new tracks released over the course of 2009.

Loki the Grump (CORE; NY/NJ) LOKI
THE GRUMP [are] "known for their punchy hooks, driving pulse and a strong
female vocalist who brings it all together. Kind of like the lovechild of Black
Flag and Poly Styrene," says Church of Girl, while Village Voice describes
them as "theatrical, sardonic punk rock." With a mission of
"puttin' the FUN back in GRUMP" it's no wonder LTG has been spreading
the grumpiness worldwide to a rabid and ever-growing fan base who proudly
declare themselves GRUMPIES. Frontwoman Michele Jaffe – an award-winning songwriter
- has evolved from playing drums in punk/goth bands into a loud, raucous and
in-your-face rock goddess! She is joined by guitarist Dimitri
Vishnepolsky – a Moscow-born violin & trumpet-playing guitar god; monster
bassist Phil Pham, recognized for his numerous stints in NYC rock and punk
bands; and a rotating roster of kick-ass drummers, with the incredibly rockin'
Jovan drumming for GRGR events. This diverse combo serves off-the-charts
performances and hook-laden songs that haunt you for days - pure Grumpy
FUN! They recently launched their sophomore album, a limited edition CD
titled "Who U Callin' A Pussy! (The CCNY Sessions)". Catch Loki
the Grump at a Girls Rock & Girls Rule event in a city near you! It's
time to GET GRUMPY!! (myspace.com/lokithegrump)....
Tara Elliott and the Red Velvets (NJ) "With a booming voice and a
solid rocking/punk band behind her she kicked ass! She was one part Meat Loaf,
one part Romeo Void, one part Janis Joplin, and one part Iggy Pop. She's
definitely someone to keep an eye on."-The Writing World of Gary Wein
Tara Elliott and The Red Velvets is a NYC/NJ Garage, Punk Blues power trio,
with Tara Elliott (songwriter, singer, guitar), Jeffery Phillips (lead bass,
titanium legs) and Werner Wilding (drums, Austrian). Their sound reflects
influences: Muddy Waters, The
Stooges, The Velvet Underground and The White Stripes.
After years of singing delta blues, Tara heard The Stooges' classic “I Wanna Be
Your Dog” and discovered her truth: a lust for punk rock. Her songwriting had metamorphosized. She ignited the blues, punk and
classic rock into her own explosive expression. ....
They are appearing on The Vinny Vella Show in
October for their debut TV performance.
They’ve rocked NJ's: Seaside Music Festival, Wave Gathering 2009 , The
Saint, Asbury Lanes, Clash Bar, Brighton Bar, Lamp Post, NYC's: Arlene's
Grocery, Otto's Shrunken Head (house band), Trash Bar (opened for The Ramones
producer Daniel Rey), The R Bar, Bar Matchless, Don Pedro's, CORIO, The Shrine
