Yesterday I heard the sad news of Ronnie's passing.We all loved Ronnie.He was a wonderful artist and a friend.He will be terribly missed.My condolences to Salima ,her beautiful family and to Cathy.
Rest in peace dear Ronaldino,and thanks for the smokin',swinging music you gave us.

In 1999 we did a 5 night, 75th Birthday Celebration tribute to my dad music Kenny Dorham. Ronnie Matthews was part of the "house" band along with Ron Carter on bass, Kenny Washington drums and Don on trumpet - what a band. Tommy Flanagan came out one night to enjoy the music and shared some great stories and enjoyed what Ronnie was doing - Tommie's memory could still recalled his original recording sessions and knew the music well.

Ronnie Matthews became associated with K.D. in the 60's when dad was writing Windmill and has recorded several of his. While I did not know him well, I know of his talent and what he brought to his performances. He will be missed.
