Hi, FEET FOLKS!

" YOU SURVIVED" is now in a music video!! What fun!

Let's talk about this music video and how it all began - I received a phone call from my friend Andrew Hyde. He explained to me that he was creating and filming a reality TV show for the web/internet. He explained to me how he was creating commercials and talk points about aids awareness and trying to educate about this disease. He asked me if I could write a song that would fit his idea for the education of aids and possibly make a music video out of this song.
Honestly, I was very honored he called me to be a part of this but I knew that writing for me has always been a challenge. He needed the song in a couple of months and it took me a couple of years to write a complete song! ha! So, I told him I would try but I couldn't guarantee anything.
Andrew was very receptive to my " maybe" answer and continued to tell me about why he was so passionate about this reality show and why he felt it was necessary to really focus on aids awareness as a key subject throughout this project. I have to say, Andrew really moved me with his thoughts and " go get em" attitude to educate, even with his understanding that aids is tagged a "gay" disease. Like many people, Andrew is very aware that this disease does NOT discriminte between gay, straight, male or female. He is hoping everyone will realize this! I was so touched by what Andrew was feeling and how he felt it was his calling to continue to support and educate the community on this dreadful disease.
When I got off of the phone with him, I sat in silence and thought about our conversation. I thought about how aids does not discriminate with it's infection but how people disriminate against those infected.
This thought lead me to the thought of how difficult and isolating it is for anyone living with ANY disease such as, cancer, mental illness, diabetes, lupus, rare tumors, parkinsons, MS, to name a few.
As I began to imagine how I would feel if I were diagnosed with a disease, I grabbed the guitar and wrote the song " You Survived."  I was surprised how quickly and effortless the song came to me but NOT without many tears and heavy emotion..
God knows I have watched so many of my family members and friends die of horrible diseases that have left them helpless and hopeless.
I could only gather one true meaning behind suffering from a disease and that would be " Hero". "One that shows great courage" or "fulfilling a high purpose or attaining a noble end".
The day to day living of never knowing when, why or how to deal with disease. The alienation from society and the fear of solitude.

I wrote the song " You Survived" with all of this in mind for everyone that takes a moment to listen-
First and foremost, here is a quote that inspired me and that I find comfort in knowing, - The Lord said, " Fear not, for I am with you."

We are all dying of something, we may not all know of exactly what right now, but someday we will. When that time comes, I hope this song gives you comfort in knowing, you do have a meaning and purpose for your life. Living with a disease is a true sacrifice but NOT in vain. With every disease, there are days of research which gives hope and another chance to find a cure for us all.

Please go to www.youtube.com/therainbowchallenge to view the video and the actual reality show that Andrew and the Mu Crew has put together. It's really kewl! We will be posting the video when we get a copy.
Thanks FEET FOLKS!!!!

Peace and peace of mind,
Kristi
