the song "when the world cried today" is based on a true story.  all the things in it are things that i've witnessed and have been impressed upon my heart.  so here's more about why i wrote the song.

something i was thinking about yesterday was all the people in need who are
hungry, hurting, and lost.  i was just thinking about it all after caroling
in the bars, seeing people who need christ but don't think so, seeing people
who are at the end of their rope who need a source of hope.  You know when
sometimes there are those people who are just totally gray? their hair,
skin, clothes, and especially their spirit?? there was a man like that at a
bar that we sang at.  i watched him sing very quietly with eyes that were
temporarily filled with joy and even a little welled up with tears.  i think
also about hurting families, hungry kids, accidents that take the lives of
people who didn't know the Lord.  it just makes me kind of sad.  but then i
think about this special season of hope, joy, and love.  what a blessing it
is for us to be able to celebrate our savior's birth!  this time of year is
the happiest for some, and the most sorrowful for others.  so if you know of
people in need, reach out to them. if you know people who don't know the
Lord, pray for the Holy Spirit to take hold of their lives.  love people.
Love them enough to share with them the joy that you know from being a child
of God.  "Through Jesus , therefore, let us continually offer to God a
sacrifice of praise--the fruit of lips that confess his name.  And do not
forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacifices God is
pleased...May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal
covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of
the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he
work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the
glory for ever and ever. Amen." Hebrews 13: 15-16 & 20-21
