Mother’s Day single is out 29th June 2009, taken from Brian Buckley Band’s forthcoming sophomore album Without Injuring Eternity
The LA-based Brian
Buckley Band is back with a new single entitled Mother’s Day, their first release of new material since debut album
For Her which featured Frank Zappa
musicians Vinnie Colaiuta (drums) and Arthur Barrow (bass, piano, organ) who
also engineered and produced the record.
Without
Injuring Eternity is a deeper and richer exploration into their
sound with producer Mark Howard (U2,
Bob Dylan, Tom Waits) at the helm. Using
the unique and creative environment of the Mack Sennett Sound Stage, Howard
pushed the band to the limit of inventiveness to create new, interesting and
distinctive sounds, strong melodies and hooks, bizarre drum grooves, unusual
song arrangements - sometimes making the band play in ways they had not played
before in order to produce their best performances.
At the fore-front is Brian
Buckley’s beautiful and emotional vocal, alternating between his effortless
and powerful falcetto and his natural register to create a magical and
mysterious blend. Telling the story of
his life experiences, each song is a unique world in itself, connected by the thread
of Brian’s vocals. Without Injuring
Eternity is a heart-felt and emotional record of a kind that is sorely
missing these days. Brought to you by
record label Sonic360, home to
Walter Becker, Kinky and Emmanuel Jal.
Distributed in the US
through Fontana
/ Universal.
A few words from Brian
Buckley about the song Mother’s Day:
“Mother's Day is a
story based solely on hope. Most songs
are, I suppose. It follows a young woman
who's transition to lover and then motherhood is derailed by the loss of her
first son during birth. The song's history is true and was told to me
first-hand by the loveliest and most important woman in my life. When the despair meets the tragedy--the only
solution and escape, is the love she shares with her husband. The chant of the chorus is a prayer and a
thank you letter to that reckless love.
All we can hope for as a band is that the listener can associate, feel
uplifted and sing along as loudly as they can..”
