Current mood:  annoyed

evidently I am no longer allowed to upload ONLY LIVING WITNESS songs to MySpace because Century Media/MAGIC ARTS Publishing does not allow such things.

I wonder how bent they'd get if you guys re-recorded everything under different pseudonyms and called the "new" band "Pleothora of Dead Blind People" or something ....

Jonah,

Who owns the rights to the music? If Century Media still holds the rights to the album you are stuck. However if you ever did a live performance of these songs and recoreded them or their are demos of these songs that are not the ones used on the album you can stick it to the man and place them up on the site. Record Labels can be so rediculous when it comes to music. Well take care....

If Century Media ran this site, or did ANY promotion anywhere for OLW, my reaction would be different.

I'm going to take down all of the music owned by Century Media, and only post the song to which they do not hold copyright.  If they want to maintain a separate site, they can create one.  OLW doesn't receive any money from MySpace streaming music.

Pethatic. Fits right in your experience with these labels though right?

Take it all down and upload live and/or demo tracks. Would be cool to hear those anyway :)

Typical stuff.. you could just upload tracks on YouTube (or let fans upload them as many as possible) and post those as an embedded video on the MySpace, just for shits and giggles :)

That's complete bullshit, man!  You guys created the damn music and Century Media never did jack shit to help promote the band back when ya'll were together.  You guys were awesome and you never got a fucking chance because of them.  Now they're STILL trying to fuck you over.  Cannot believe this.....

This is wrong on so many levels. What did they ever do for you guys? Failed to properly promote a damn fine band.

There is another option, you did do the Prone Mortal Form Demo, this can still be uploaded since you re-recorded those songs. The original renditions are yours as well as the rights. Century Media only owns the rights to the catalog provided to them for the two Albums. The only catch is, if you used any of the original demo recordings in the final release they own the rights to them.

A Simple Complex

as someone who owns PMF in standard US version, import version and US promo. plus Innocents in standard US and US promo, and the recent 2cd re-release, i feel like going downstairs and crossing "Century Media" off of all of them.

i don't think my 7" of freaklaw/some will never know has "Century Media" on it anywhere.
