I am privileged and excited to have one of my songs included in a major new release exploring the folk music of Dark Britannica.

"John Barleycorn Reborn" is a 2CD set plus free downloadable third part featuring British artists inspired by our ancient folklore and traditions, but whose work has, until now, fallen below the radar of mainstream media. It is anticipated that this release on the Cold Spring label will receive widespread high profile reviews and radio airplay, and this will be backed up with excellent distribution to make the album as widely available as possible.

"John Barleycorn" is one of the oldest known British folk songs and a beautiful booklet in the CD package explains its history and how it sets the tone for this collection of songs, lovingly curated by Mark Coyle of specialist digital retailer Woven Wheat Whispers.

My song "The Scryer and the Shewstone" is one of four sample tracks now playing on the John Barleycorn Reborn myspace music player - click the image in the Top Friends here on my page to go there.

Thanks for your interest, and please help to spread the news of this release.

Hi Peter,

i just heard the song "The Scryer and the Shewstone" on the JBR-Profile, and it´s an amazing wonderful track. Deeply spherical voices with traditional instruments, i like that stuff very much! The structure remembers me to good old times, especially with nice memories!

Thanks for that little "brain timeout" this hours, thats pretty cool!

Best wishes again,

+++ Yaurith +++

Listened to The Scryer and the Shewstone as well as the other tracks on their player and must say I'm amazed at the work altogether. The description of the box set and the booklet only had my mouth watering. Congrats on the rhythmic song you got there, definitely atmospheric voicing of its lyrics as noted before. Also, I dig the timbres, strong yet subtle at once.

Heard your track on Stuart Maconie's Freak Zone last week and promptly ordered the 'Dark Britannica' compilation, the opening disc of which I'm currently listening to for the first time. Am blown away by the beauty of some of this material, which deserves the widest possible audience.

Thanks Robin.
I agree. I just contributed one track, but overall I think it's a fantastic compilation that Mark Coyle has put together and it's a big thrill to be a part of it.
It's also great to finally get one of my songs played on national BBC radio - something that's eluded me for years!!
It's very kind of you to let me know that you heard it and, as a result, bought the JBR compilation - it's a great help to get this kind of feedback and to know that things are having an impact.
I hope you continue to get great enjoyment from it.
Best wishes,
Peter.

Oh dear, I didn't see this blog...and here I was scolding you for not telling everyone about the splendid new John Barleycorn Reborn Release...mea culpa! Bad, bad record label, shame, shame.

I do hope everyone spreads the word about the new release and your featured song. Such good stuff!
