Ok, don't know whats going on in this article but I think people need to stop trying to categorize and connect everything, with any music style other music styles may lend some traits but such a huge generalization is sad; 'grime turned into funky house' ??, the article is more about latching the category of grime with urban/ethnic/groups, just because black people listen to funky now, it has to be directly linked with grime. some people should just keep there un-founded opinions to themselves , rather than making assumptions and trying to create a story just to get something published.

1. i did not write the headline. it is not an accurate summary of what the article is about.

2. i talked about cube playing conventional funky house and deep house. and if anyone has ever played "tell me" there then that is an example of "darker material".

3. i spoke to both geeneus and ng and they were both using the term "house and funky". that is not me inventing a genre, that is me quoting what they have told me.

4. this has definitely nothing to do with race. the two main people focused on - ng and geeneus - are not black.

5. grime producers are now making funky. i am not making that up. i am not inventing it. it is true.

geeneus - grime producer
perempay (AKA DJ Bossman from grime crew essentials)
dexplicit (who produced grime's biggest hit, "pow", is now making funky)
ng was in a garage crew that finished just as grime was taking off

Ok, so I went over the top, but a headline says alot about an article, its the introduction and sets the tone of what the article about, the headline of the article states an assumption that seems somewhat unfounded (in my opinion, but hey). Just because grime producers are now making funky or whatever does not mean what they are now making is the 'new' grime, whatever their making deserves to be highlighted for what it is.
There is nothing wrong with the article, yes the headline doesn't really connect with the actual content of the piece, but the headline sets everything of in the wrong direction; as grime didn't turn into funky house, which is where it feels like they are just trying to catogrise everything.
Your article may not have anything to do with race but the fact that the connection is being made and highlighted somewhat does, if the race of listeners to funky, funky house or house hadn't changed (to what can be described as predominantly black, I apologise for my previous over generalistaion) no one would care about how or why, they'd just appreciate the music.
