Big Jef Special -

The band Big Jef Special from Orlando, Florida, has released this collection of original and eclectic tunes, a fusion of country, punk, rockabilly, and blues.

This five-piece band consists of Jef Shumard on lead vocals/guitar/fiddle; Nadeem Khan thumping the stand up bass and providing backup vocals; Brian Chodorcoff, shredding on the lead guitar; and Alan Cowart, pounding the drums. Brian Maguire the original drummer, who was in serious motorcycle accident, is on about half the tracks. (Brian is on the mend) I slipped this disc into my truck's CD player over a month ago and I'm still listening to it.

Being a metal head and fairly new to the rockabilly scene, I wasn't hooked at first, but as I kept listening, it worked its way into my soul. Like all the good music, it comes from the heart and from life experiences. That's how these tunes on this disc feel, authentic and genuine; truly soulful.
