The story continues
Well just when I thought the saga of my ankle was moving on, and looking forward to my outpatient appointment to get a lighter cast, the pain which every learned friend was telling me was part of the healing process increased inmeasurably ! Wednesday the 18th arrived took myself off to the fracture clinic, they took the cast and dressing off to reveal one hell of an infection in the right-hand wound. You is going nowhere declared the registra except to the orthopeadic/trauma ward . 5:00 they find me a bed and there I stayed for the last 12 days having various anti-biotics pumped into my arms every 4 hours plus wonderful pain killing drugs.I was told about the amazing healing properties of Manuka honey, which I have been pouring down my neck evryday since.
So here we are 2nd July, home and waiting for the District Nurse to show to re-dress my sad ankle.I'll let you all know what she's like.
She was a BIG LASS.
Update
Well I really wish that I had kept a photo record of my blessed ankle,it would have probably been a little more interesting. What I am hoping is,that for all you gouls out there and for my own record I'm going to get the xrays of the whole procedure, you know the before and afters. It goes without saying tha there have been some great people involved in the rehab and re-build of ankle,I just wish that I had a photo journal of the team involved.
I've started seeing Susi my strict physio, went for my first session last week and she instantly complained that I wasn't wearing a shoe on my dodgy ankle..........
Went for the second session yesterday. Had a wonderful foot and ankle massage, and then, she made me start to put some weight on the poor ankle. Wow,that was painful.......
