During the debate, there were a couple of major points concerning attitude which really struck a nerve with me.  One of course refers to the title of this blog.  I have heard McCain use this reference to Sen. Obama in context of rally points during his campaigning.  But to actually in Obama's face point the finger and go 'That One'.... was very disrespectful and further painted a picture of who McCain truly is… an out of touch bitter old man.

If this was an isolated incident... not much would be made of it.  But after the last debate in which he sat there looking grumpy... never engaging Obama in dialogue or even acknowledging Obama with as much as a respectful glance... what other explanation could you come up with other than a grumpy old man with a disdain in stead of mutual respect for Obama.

The comment I found to be the most condescending, however, happened early in the debate.  It was when McCain 'assumed' that the 'black' gentleman who asked the question about the recent bail out plan had never heard of Fannie May or Freddie Mac.  Whether there were racial undertones in that assumption or not isn't really the point... it was still short minded of him to assume that an average American citizen who just asked the question concerning the bail out plan... i.e. concerning Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, wouldn't know who they were.

Obama on the other hand did what he has been doing when ever asked... he actually answered the question.

McCain has no respect for the intelligence of the average American.  The most blatant proof is his pit bull with lipstick he's trying to pass off as VP material.

I wanted to post a few truths and mistruths which were spoke about in the debate.  These can be researched.  I sourced MSNBC and the Associated Press for most of this info and direct quotes.

the first was a small one... but still shows you the type of thinking McCain has.  He said Obama supported a congressional earmark of $3 million for an overhead projector at a planetarium in Chicago, Ill.... "do we need to spend that kind of money?" is what he said.

Well the truth is the money was for an overhaul of the theater system, which projects images of stars and planets for educational shows at Chicago's Adler Planetarium... a Landmark Museum. When Obama announced the $3 million earmark last year, Obama said the planetarium's 40-year-old projection system "has begun to fail, leaving the theater dark and groups of school students and other interested museum-goers without this very valuable and exciting learning experience."

Note that one tank. which may be very helpful in the War in Iraq can carry an initial cost over $4 million... with hundreds of thousands to millions more in upkeep, repair and operating cost. McCain has no issues with that spending... but has problems with an education tool which services thousands of children and families every year.

Healthcare is a major concern for me... not only am I very dependant on it... but I have several children as well.  So thinking about how we are going to be able to afford quality health care is a priority.

McCain said he would provide a $5,000 refundable tax credit for families to buy health insurance "rather than mandates or fines for small businesses as Senator Obama's plan calls for."

The truth is Obama's health care plan does not impose mandates or fines on small business. He would provide small businesses with a refundable tax credit of up to 50 percent on health premiums paid on behalf of their employees. Also, large employers that do not offer meaningful coverage or contribute to the cost of coverage would be required to pay a percentage of payroll toward the costs of a public insurance plan. But small businesses would be exempt from that requirement.

This is in contrast to what McCain has suggested.

While McCain's plan offers families a $5,000 tax credit to help them buy health insurance. The corresponding increase in taxable wages would result in a much smaller cost than the value of the tax credit, at least at first. Over time, however, the value of the tax credit may diminish as premiums rise. However, the Tax Policy Center estimates that McCain's plan would increase the federal deficit by $1.3 trillion over 10 years mainly because it would lead to less tax revenue coming in.

Another point on healthcare is that McCain wants to 'deregulate' it.  Isn't deregulation what got the economy in trouble now...?

Setting up a system in which Insurance companies will compete for customers in a deregulated environment is dangerous.  Obama didn't have to say what I believed the primary problem would be.  As it is in other industries... the cost may seam to go down.... but they are made up by eliminating critical elements of coverage.  With out regulations to guarantee what is covered... many people would think they have good insurance... until it comes time to pay for a service they don't cover.  Sure you can gp get new coverage eventually... but it would do you no good while you are sick now.

But listen to McCain and Obama about there fundamental beliefs about Health care... when asked, "Is health care in America a privilege, a right, or a responsibility?"

McCain's answer was 'responsibility'... Obama's… a 'right'.

That alone tells you at the core of McCain's beliefs is 'every man for himself'.  If you don't have adequate Healthcare... it's your responsibility to get it.  Of course since he doesn't want to regulate it... he's leaving the citizens to the mercy of big business sharks.

Obama's message is about a country that takes care of its people... it is your right as a citizen to have your medical needs met... regardless of whether you are capable or incapable of doing it yourself.

Think people please.

This one or THAT ONE...  there is only one answer.  and looking at the current administration as a guideline... an administration whose policies McCain has supported 90% pf the time....

It certainly ain't THIS.

I laughed this morning when a friend compared McCain to Mr. Magoo. And, if he calls me his friend one more time....

Thank you for this. I am still steaming over his comment , " you probably never heard of freddie or fannie mae." WTH?! Um, anyone who has attended college or even thought about college probably heard of sallie mae and her cousins, freddie and fannie (even if he didn't know that the latter are not student loan related).
ANd even if the man had indeed not heard of them why did he ASSUME that he hadn't? His ethnicity? His assumed economic background? BOTH?

McCain...I won't even go into it.
I'm just glad other folks caught that!

McCain is a shrunk up, shrivel old relic with some old timey racsist views. Obama seems in my opinion to be so much more intelligent than Mccain. Obama just makes sense.
