BRUTALISM
Another well-hidden treasure from the deepest vaults of Italy. “On The Inexistence Of God” is Blasphemers newest offering after releasing a demo in 2002 and two Split CD..s in 2003 and 2006. “On The Inexistence Of God” is an impressive demonstration of technical and very brutal Death Metal. Guttural growling meets variable drumparts and razor-sharp riffing. The songs are mainly presented at high speed, but some very few slower parts were also added. These guys play at an extremely high technical level and will shred their way right through your skull, but there..s also a little lack of recognition value, because of the constant blasting and the hyperbolical fretboard gymnastics. The band only allows two short breaks to take a breath during this musical massacre: the titletrack (wich is a short accoutic instrumental song) and the outro. The rest of this well-produced album is like a sledgehammer hitting you right were it hurts. Despite the fact of the recognition value, “On The Inexistence Of God” is without any doubt a cool and impressive release, but only suitable for the sickest among you. Imagine an unrelenting mixture of Suffocation and Severe Torture and you..re close to Blasphemers sound. (review by Alex)
NEGATIVE EXISTENCE
At long last the first full length from Italian brutal death metallers Blasphemer is here. I have been anticipating this one for a while. At MDF this year I asked Steve why it was taking so long (I believe the original release date was summer 07) and he told me something about drummer problems. I'm just glad they finally got things squared away because On the Inexistence of God is a pretty damn good album.
The two bands that immediately come to mind when I listen to Blasphemer are Deeds of Flesh and Defeated Sanity. They take the interesting tremelo and melodic riffing and fast "junjuns" from Deeds and furious and pounding riffs from Defeated Sanity. This album is full of whirlwind riffs and fast groovy parts. Adding to the mix is the occasional slow breakdown which is sure to please the slammers among us. It's a very enjoyable mixture that in pieces should be familiar to the brutal death fan, but together should sound fresh.
On the Inexistence of God is also enlivened by a very spirited performance from all involved. Every band member sounds really into it which makes it a fun listen. This is brought out by a clear production that emphasizes the guitars, but gives nice space for the drums, vocals, and bass to play their supporting roles. There's even a couple acoustic interludes (including the Godfather theme!) that give a nice breather between songs.
Bottom line this a very solid and enjoyable listen and was worth the wait. Certainly one of the more professional sounding releases of late. I'm guessing this'll sneak onto my top ten of 2008 (stay tuned) towards the end of the list.

I have got new releases for reviews from Comatose Music recently, the first one is this Italian band called BLASPHEMER. I didn’t heard them before, and now I think this is my big fault, since BLASPHEMER is into pure brutality! The music of this band is into truly brutal stuff, made in great dense and merciless way. Really brutal and very technical music waiting here for you. Made by using of such twisted, vortex like, devastating, low tuned guitar riffs, great dense, underlined bass lines and guttural vocals. As a whole sounds just like heliish killing machine. The whole sound is pretty good too, you’ll be able hear all instruments clearly, and you’ll be able to sink deeply into main musical structure. Of course here is not something new or original, no, but made on very high level. I like also their very impressive rhythm-section, with tons of great tempo-changes and breakdowns here and there. As well as sick atmosphere and high speed of playing. Also add some intros before the songs (he-he, like theme which is taken from my beloved movie – “Godfather” there in the song “The Killing Dogma”). Thus we are speaking about US way brutal death metal, made in all its beautiful. For fans of solid stuff in the way of US DISGORGE, DEEDS OF FLESH and etc…! Awesome album! CD contains video bonus as well.
4+..5

BLASPHEMER - ON THE INEXISTENCE OF GOD
(10 track CD) COMATOSE MUSIC
These Italian Death demons have unleashed their long awaited full length CD with new
drummer. These sickos play extremely complex technical & chaotic Death Metal music
which forges itself with Grindcore. The intensity on this release is insane, brutal &
repeatedly beats the hell out of you. Just the way I like it! There is an unique four way
guttural vocal assault as well. They mix it up with some lower thick, higher screeching &
mid ranged growls. This is definitely a band that is going to force itself upon the Death
Metal scene & make people remember them. If your into sick, spastic Death Grind this
band will surely please your needs. There's a bonus video clip included too!
