I finally got to perform with the genius that is Doug Stanhope. Pre-show in a dark seedy looking green room, I got the introduction to Doug.  Then my babbling began, "Thanks for having me, I'm a big fan, you're  my comedy hero, Blah,blah,blah (In my head I sounded like a half retarded teenage girl, and I know what they sound like cuz i used to date one).  Cool as a seasoned comic can be, he assures me that I'm welcomed to be there and tells me to just do my thing. One scotch on the rocks and a Das Boot racial rant later I'm on.

I had to follow a fucking disaster that brought a back up band..  Having to choose between giving more attention to the accident that happened before me, and during my material, I choose my material. After 7-10 minutes of what felt like telling jokes at a funeral I introduce Jason Barnes from Atlanta. That quick it was over. I went back to the dark ominous green room, where Doug thanks me for jumping into the pit full of pungy sticks that went on before me.  After that pick me up from my comedy hero I went out and had a few drinks with my other hero, My brother Steve, (The biggest tolerence crammed into the smallest marine).  

It was truly a learning experience watching Doug perform. His punch lines hit you in the gut like an upper cut from Mike Tyson on steroids. Topics ranging from drinking and cocaine, to the presidential race, even a seamless refference to Domino's Pizza and Oreo pizza, segwaying right into mortallity. Every thought he discussed sounded in the moment.  Midway thru the show me gives me a shout out and i proceed to do the most akward shot of Yager ever.  I spend the next almost 30-40 minutes laughing and enjoying the show with my brother and friends.
