If you haven't noticed, we have a new book out: Working Sex: Sex Workers Write About a Changing Industry. Well, kind of new- the book actually came out at the beginning of the year, but I have been so busy that I haven't been able to do much to get the word out about it. There are so many excellent people involved, and we are very excited about it, so please check it out! And for the love of god, would someone please post a review about it on Amazon? It has received great reviews in the press, but nothing on amazon! post something bad, just post something!

Working Sex is a new anthology of writing by people who have worked in the sex trade. The essays, narratives, plays, and stories showcase a wide variety of perspectives on and experiences with sex work by people in all areas of the industry, making it the most diverse anthology on sex work in the US.

Angry and academic, sexy and sordid, hot and hilarious, Working Sex offers unique takes on class, race, gender, and labor from the people who live and work in the crucible of our collective desire and revulsion! Yeah! Contributors include Bruce LaBruce, Michelle Tea, Eileen Myles, Vaginal Davis, Veronica Monet, Chris Kraus, Aiden Shaw, Stephen Elliott, Gloria Lockett, nomy Lamm, and many more. Edited by Annie Oakley, director of the Sex Workers' Art Show.

You can buy it here, or better yet go down to your local bookstore and request that they carry it.

Wonderful. It was both hilarious and mildly uncomfortable for me to read. lol.

I am a bit dismayed that none of my 'interactions' made it into the book. lol. I should probably be relieved.

I cringed in a few places because some 'johns' give all men a bad rep. It would be obtuse of me to think that the nice guys like me could ever be as memorable as the bad ones.

I would label myself somewhere between 'The Fisherman' and 'Attilio'. I know their minds in the same manner that all prostitutes can empathize with each other.

A few happy endings would be nice. There are some. Certainly they aren't the funniest, crudest, or most memorable instances, but they do offer a refrain from the symphony of customer disdain in the sex industry.

Perhaps one day, 'Cherry' will tell of the man who taught her to shoot a rifle, 'Daphne' will talk of the man who brought Hardee's breakfast biscuits to her mother before going upstairs, or 'Steffi' will recount the story of my friend bringing us coffee in bed the next morning on the first encounter. OR the fact that I now know all three of these women and we keep in touch as friends who once shared a business transaction, but now share secrets, poems, troubles, and happiness.

Of course, there is always the fact that I am not done with my wandering ways. Tomorrow holds prospects of temporary golden unicorns, passing glances of fear when seen in public places with their boyfriends, and the inevitable trip to whatever motel or secluded off-road location.

Be nice to the gentlemen, fancy, and they'll be nice to you. And don't forget... if it wasn't you then it might be someone prettier, younger, and less inhibited.

Love ya. Mean it.
