TAMMY JACKSON AND CLIFF CLEGG
INDUCTED INTO THE NHCMA HALL OF FAME
Tammy Jackson and Cliff Clegg, of Sunapee's "Tammy Jackson Band," are the newest inductees into the NH Country Music Association Hall of Fame. The couple was honored at the NH CMA Awards Show in Rochester, NH on October 19, 2008. They now join long-time Tammy Jackson Band member, Wayne Brewer, who was inducted into the NHCMA Hall of Fame in October 2007.
"To say we're honored would be an understatement", said Jackson. "But, to be recognized for something that you love doing is just the greatest feeling, and I'm sure our fans will get as much of a kick out of this as Cliff and I have".
This honor marks the latest recognition for Tammy who was the 1994 NH CMA Female Vocalist of the Year and in 1995 was named the National CMA Modern Country Female Vocalist of the Year at competitions held in Las Vegas, where she and Cliff met. Cliff and Wayne have performed as the lead guitarist and pedal steel guitarist for several bands that have earned the title of Band of the Year, both at the state and national level.
Since joining forces in 1997, Cliff, Tammy and Wayne, together with their band members, Jody Bregler (drums) and Sean Lake (bass), have supported the efforts of the NH CMA by backing, at times, up to 125 contestants, throughout the CMA competitions. The Tammy Jackson Band has become a staple to the NHCMA, according to President, Jimmy Woods.
Jackson is the youngest person to ever be inducted into a CMA Hall of Fame. Previously, the youngest member was internationally acclaimed artist Eddy Arnold who was inducted in 1966 at age 48.
In 2006 the Tammy Jackson Band released their first CD to critical acclaim titled "Empty Pockets Full Of Promise". A follow-up release is scheduled for the Spring of 2009.
