What is blues? Blues is when you see a woman in the dark, dressed in a ghostly sheer white robe, make love to her all night long, and in the morning you find out you've spent the night with the pope. Pardon me, Brunga, but that's blues. And what is metal, the reader would ask.
It's when four lads from Plovdiv, Bulgaria, who call themselves EXK, record a demo which blows away 90 percent of the bands spoiled by the local glory of "O! Shipka" (*note – a ex rock club in Sofia). Although I quite seriously dislike Slipknot and Coal Chamber (and much prefer Devildriver) whose guitar riffs are at the core of the three tracks of the demo, EXK simply slap down anything similar "made in Bulgaria" I've ever heard. The sound is decent and promising high calibre surprises once the band gets into a professional studio. I can now foresee into what "butchery" can "
Feel Me" turn, if a smart sound engineer plays up a bit with the groove and the dynamics of the recitative in the middle and immediately after. "
Fuck It" reminds me of the kinky verses of White Zombie and the times when Korn were as fresh as a freshly butchered corpse in the slaughterhouse. EXK are definitely worth it, so try to get your hands on that demo by dropping a line to xk_metal@abv.bg.
