Alright, I want to start out by posting something about tonight's show...
First was KNIVES IN THE ATTIC who rocked! With a bit of a alternative/punk style, these guys ( and girl) were cool as hell and good musicians. The lead singer, Christen Shaw reminded us all of a young Joan Jett, beautiful and talented. Check them out and hopefully we can get them back for you all sometime. (myspace = knivesintheattic)
Second came an amazing progressive indie band called EL BOXEO from the mid-west on tour. Their set-up was wonderful with drums, bass, keyboard, violin, and tapdacing! With very sparce vocals their entire drive come from hard-pounding rhythms and beautiful violin melodies all anchored down with driving bass lines. I bought both of their cd's, check them out as soon as you get the chance! (myspace = elboxeo)
And to end the night we were graced once more with one of the most talented young bands to hit the central valley scene in awhile, the dance rock, geek-pop sensations, JUPITER IS USELESS. I have seen them once before, and the first time I saw them they were something that I could tell would be a force to be reckoned with, and this time, although the crowd was not as into it, I was able to actually listen to more of the dynamics of their music. The counterpoint and changes between the two guitars was actually quite magnificent, especially for just high school kids from Turlock. Do me a favor, listen to them, watch them, and dance the night away! (myspace - jupiterisuseless)
This was another good show with great bands from all over.
As for tomorrow, this is a big one...SUNSPOT JONZ of THE LIVING LEGENDS is coming to town for a night of killer hip-hop. I got his new cd and (Although I am not a huge hip-hop fan, I do like some) I really got into a few tracks. Check him out! He is playing with The Grains of Sand, Anatik and Six Sense, and The Have Nots. Check it out if you are into hip-hop at all, this should be one of the best shows Merced has ever had for the genre.
