Current mood:  thoughtful
I have been feeling reflective as we are finally getting some time to gather our thoughts after the release of this album. Running the label myself means that sometimes I don't have much time to think about what has been achieved.

I am so happy with the reaction we have received for the album, the press, the radio, support from our loyal fans, plus the new ones we have now managed to win over. And so it seems a great time to have a breather, write some new songs and take in what we have been up to so far this year.

For those of you that don't know, we recorded the album at the Pool, which was a massive open plan studio, in only 6 days. We spent months getting the songs ready so that we could record the tracks live and overdub only a few instruments, we even did vocals live on three of the tracks. We didn't have an obscene budget, we didn't have an A&R team (just our honest friends and family) and I even painted the artwork myself. We have found support in our PR and plugging teams that have worked so hard for us, Steve Lamacq, Nemone, Janice Long, Pete Paphides, and festivals like Greenman, Lounge on the Farm and Eddie that books Cambridge Folk Festival have all backed us and believed in us. Not bad for our tiny little cottage industry.

We have already begun writing new songs, I have melody ideas that I record on my phone sometimes whilst walking down the street, the clip clop of my heels creates a rhythm and I end up humming to myself, and writing songs... you can tell I must always be in a hurry as so many songs are up beat. Having time with the guitar or uke and sitting down and playing ideas to the band and beginning to work on the songs together has been so much fun. When you spend so much time gigging and doing the business side of things you can almost forget how special the creative side can feel.

We have a few more gigs this weekend and the following weekend and then we will be getting our next single ready for release in November (cue some more painting and hopefully another music video).

In a time when every label is trying to find the answer to making money in the business, it can be a struggle to know what the best course of action is. But I am excited about what the coming months will bring; some more tours (hopefully in some other countries but I can't give too much away just yet) the recording of the new album and I hope we will have more people still discovering this latest one.

So, thanks to everyone that has bought the album, listened on Spotify and told a friend about us... now come down and watch us play this weekend if you get a chance.

Much love,

Tamara

I find my self very happy for you and the rest of the Rioters. I'll bet that "victory" is even more satisfying seeing as, as you've said, you are the record label as well. To of taken on all those problems that I hear are in the music world these days is unimaginable. But is a feat to look up to.
Can't wait to hear those new songs when there done.
Hope to see you in Hoxten in the later half of next month.
David, a newer fan that you won over, and one who intends to be around a long while :) x
Oh, and I never got round to mentioning when it was released but I did get Oh Those Kids when it came out. The song I had heard before I already thought was good. The song I hadn't heard before, If You Can't (which is the point of the bit of the comment), I felt was really good as well. I only really have 2 ways of measuring how good a song is, would I buy it individuly (redundent as I more or less have) and would it work as a A side. I would say that If You Can't is an A side grade song.
