Category: Writing and Poetry
REPOST for sean patrick, for showing interest in my headline, that is a snippet of this:

(original teaser posted on the Edge of Knowledge group msg board, 12/22/05.)

SUBJECT:  "word-math
"

rocks:

know l edge

edge is on the ledge of know.

i like the implications of that. walking the edge of the ledge balancing to understand Truth greater than illusion.. .

but what IS the difference? IS there illusion that has substance past ONE's delusory perception?
it sounds like semantics. it is definitely a philosophical question. Science is the righthand bedfellow of math, AND philoSophy is the musing mistress on the left. who would care to "know" at all without good question in the first place..? ALL belong: here. THAT said, consider these two words:

illusion (mystique + dreams = possibility)

delusion (deception - Reality = psychosis)

seekers, jumpers:
will you fall? will you fly??

will you thumb wrestle the question, peering past the horizon, glancing the groundless below the brink-- tip-toes hugging the concrete Ledge. just to "know"-- ?

which next answer will be the ONE?
there will always be 5 great big capital W's-- as well as their more pretentious cousins, BUT they are each of them questions AND answers.

everything is balance.

edge is on the ledge of know.

?+faith=reason

please fill in your OWN damn blanks:

happy, merry, peaceful, bright: and so on etcetera)
equal parts,
caitlin ann

(..!..
i almost forgot about that bastard 1/2 brother --HOW--? that demon seed little shit ... [haha] ..but my god, it's so beautiful when the boy smiles:0)

Hey, Im Sean Patrick!! Thanks. Although I think philosophy can be looked at as the art semantics- exemplary language skills and supreme awareness? Beyond that I feel that knowledge+initiative= possibility. As far as this particular word-math formula/equation/or semi-irrelevant arrrrangement (you like that- I type studdered!) of words, well, I am completely lost in awe.

Caitlin Ann, Don't worry about people using the blackjack word "semantics" on your honorably reasoned approaches to meaning. I don't agree with the equation that you drew: illusion (mystique+dreams=possibility.) I do agree with the equation (questions+faith=reason.) No matter whether I or anyone else agrees with you, you are a sincere student of reality, humbled by the incompleteness of your information. I admire people with the fortitude to admit that. The alternative is the knee-jerk approach to philosophy, with its distasteful hubris and self-congratulatory chest-beating. Typical adherents to that approach are religious and political zealots, both on the left and on the right.

Thanks for your thoughtful response.. These are just dilly-dally contemplations from a few years back. If I remember that mindset correctly, in comparing "illusion" with "delusion" I simply hoped to express that illusion has potential, with some positive connotation. I believe I was poking back light heartedly at the scientific exclusion of all things illusory; that domineeringly forgone poppycock! conclusion.
Semantics is a lot like ping-pong to me, and not at all offensive. I am delighted that the simple connotation of words expressed can be the genesis of idealism. Thus the craft is grand. Words, alike most things, are sometimes tricky, synonymous beasts subject to individual perception.
That, (perception) being the pioneer and strongest champion over one's reality. Reality by "information"-- bits and pieces compiled in a collage of sought and happenstance "truths" for each student of life. Different paths show unique worlds. I am always humbled in the Socratic sense, of ALL that i do not know. I am most compelled by that learning potential.

This post was just a fun dalliance, "word-math" trying to broaden the perspective of some concrete attitudes.
Again, thanks!
