Welsh rock band Feeder are to play a one-off gig at Glyndŵr University.
The three-piece outfit will play in the William Aston Hall on Wednesday 1 October. The gig marks Feeder's first appearance in Wrexham and is the first major gig to be held at the new University.
Matthew Hart, President of Glyndŵr University's Students' Guild, said: "Feeder are one of the biggest bands around so to have the chance to see them play at the University is fantastic – it's a real coup for us. They'll be playing at the start of a new term, too, so it'll be a great chance for new students – as well as the local public - to catch some live music on campus.
"It's an exciting time for the University and I'm sure Feeder's gig is just the start of something big in attracting famous bands to play here."
The band, fronted by lead singer and guitarist Grant Nicholas, have sold more than 1 million albums in the UK to date and appeared on the main stage at this year's Reading and Leeds Festival. Their sixth studio album 'Silent Cry' was released earlier this year, debuting at number eight in the UK charts.
They will be joined at the Glyndŵr University show by The Daves, a four-piece indie band from East London.
Matthew added: "The Super Furry Animals played in the William Aston Hall a few years ago and were a big hit. I'm sure Feeder will be a huge success as well."
Feeder join the likes of The Magic Numbers, The Kooks and Ash in appearing in Wrexham.
Tickets will be on sale from Friday 5th September and are priced £19.50 (+ booking fee)*. Tickets are available online at http://www.glyndwr.ac.uk/feeder or in person from the Plas Coch Sports Centre, open daily from 8am to 10pm or from HMV, Island Green. Doors open at 7pm, with support band The Daves on stage at 8.30pm. The gig is open to over 16s only.
