DG YOLA
TURNS HIMSELF IN FOR 1 YEAR BID
AFTER
SHOOTING COUSIN IN THE CHEST
PLANS TO RELEASE
DEBUT ALBUM STILL IN PLACE
Atlanta, GA – Atlanta
rapper, DG Yola, whose real name is Mario Talley, turned
him self into authorities this past Friday, August 7th to begin a one-year bid stemming from
an aggravated assault charge he received in December of 08. This, according
to manager Lady B of Power Hittas Records.
The charge stemmed from an
incident in which Yola’s own cousin tried to rob him of cash and a
2009 Jaguar upon Yola’s return from a performance, forcing Yola to
shoot the man in the chest in self-defense. Yola’s cousin has since
recovered and the two have apparently reconciled.
Although DG Yola was sentenced
to a one year prison term, it is possible that he will qualify for an
early release for good behavior. Prior to beginning his bid, Yola had
been out on a $100,000 bond and had been fitted with a monitoring device.
Despite the sentence, DG Yola,
who is best know for his South Eastern street classic, Ain’t
Gon Let Up recent street single
I'm a dog feat. Gucci Mane,
still has plans to drop his debut album, Gutta World in
October. Yola currently has a mixtape in the streets, Still Standing,
hosted by MixxBosses DJ Panic which is available for download
web-wide.
