The fire and the fury have split open and we are well into our way for a molten lava hot summer. I'm not jokin, the heat is on*.
After nearly a year, the inevitable end of my time in Las Vegas has come. Yes, its back to the ices of April and the snowfall of May for this desert acclamated artist, but not without the biggest and best news I have to report to date for my career.
Herin lies the good news. My upcoming exhibition opportunity lies in the sunny valley of Los Angeles at a place called Found Gallery. It is a beaut, let me tell you. The exhibition is part of a continuous month long Spacial Reconstruction Project involving 3 other national and international artists. This piece is an installation piece, not a traditional painting exhibition (in fact, there may be very little painting involved, and certainly no stretched canvases that I can imagine), so the impact it will have on the direction of not only my work, but my career will be awesome. Let me explain...
Each artist occupies the gallery space for a five day development period where new work is integrated with recycled objects from artists' prior installations to create an original composition for presentation. The final presentation will be open to the public during a 36 hour reception at the end of the week. My installation piece will transform the gallery into a theater-like space where I will collaborate with and direct a small cast of actors and musicians to create an interactive piece as part of the installation.
I am inviting some amazing artists to fill the space with me. A freshly graduated musician, Dan Eaton will be creating audial arrangements with organ and percussion, and the multi-talented actor and guerilla clown Ethan Schanback is also on the roster. Perhaps more will join us, but never less.

The show, my friends is July 25-27, 2008.
I think that will fill my creative time as I make the transition back to the midwest and through the summer. In the fall comes a move to Minneapolis where more of the same is on the roster. I hope a friendly face will find a way to greet me there.
*this is a figure of speech. possibly first originating in the "top gun" movie soundtrack, though that statement may only go to prove just how difficult it is for me to see past my wonder years.
