August 8, 2009, Chronic Youth presents Heartworm Press #37 at Santos Party House in New York City. Featuring the first live performance by NON in many years, and the negative hiss and out-of-body-bliss of supporters Prurient and Cold Cave. What makes this event unique enough to merit a Heartworm catalog number is the fact that all of these death-cheaters and dangerous thinkers will be (somewhat) contained under one roof for the first time. In between the three acts there will be spoken word performances by Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, Jamie Stewart (Xiu Xiu), Kid Congo Powers (The Cramps, Gun Club, Bad Seeds), Chris Leo (The Van Pelt, The Lapse), Eric Paul (Chinese Stars, Arab On Radar) and renowned tattoo artist and underground journalist legend Jonathan Shaw- A man who seeps old New York. and was wolf enough to run with the likes of Frank Zappa, Jim Morrison, the Manson Family and Charles Bukowski. This will be Shaw's first reading in New York City.
Headliner Boyd Rice (NON) has been known over the last several decades as an Avant-garde recording artist, and cofounder of the genre known as Industrial Music. As a writer, his output has appeared in upwards of a half dozen languages. He has no girlfriends, no pets, no computer, and no cell phone. It is extremely rare for Boyd to leave his underground compound. The Colorado-based recluse's new book of blunt-realities and discourse, NO (Heartworm Press), will also be available at the event.
In the time of NON's absence Dominick Fernow has redefined the genre of noise music with Prurient and his realm, Hospital Productions, bringing death, mourning, and new life to the outlet. Cold Cave have garnered acclaim through a recent onslaught of releases on a diverse plethora of labels such as Hospital, Dais and What's Your Rupture. After recently releasing their debut modern pop opus on their own Heartworm Press, this event will see the more experimental side of the well balanced machine featuring the incorporation of spoken word and electronic disconnect.
