Things I did yesterday: 1. Woke up early to do an interview for a radio station in Canada. 2. Stopped for coffee and blueberry coffeecake. 3. Drove to Orlando for counseling. I can't say enough good things about counseling. I think this was my tenth visit. This week we talked about change, progress, things I'm thankful for, pain, opportunity, humility, family, and how I feel about leaving for the next three weeks. 4. Since I am about to leave for three weeks, I was not happy about having to miss counseling. But I asked if I could do it over the phone, so we're doing it over the phone on July 9, which means that I will be calling from Las Vegas. If you're going to do counseling over the phone, it might as well as be Vegas : ) 5. Had breakfast with Aaron Moore. Aaron rules as both a friend and a person of wisdom and you will start to see his voice and fingerprints more @ TWLOHA. 6. Went to Kyle Griner's office. (Kyle is another friend and person of wisdom) Borrowed his internet, read his Rolling Stone, ate his pizza, talked music biz, talked TWLOHA, laughed a lot. Kyle has helped a ton behind the scenes over the last year, and is now taking on a more official role. 7. Went to Ian Soto's house. Ian is my best friend. Borrowed his internet. Listened to his music. (Prepare for "The Ians") Smiled at his life. Laughed. Ian is my best friend. 8. Went to Barnes & Noble. Bought (for the second time) "A Severe Mercy" by Sheldon Vanauken. I'm convinced it is the most beautiful book ever written, though I am only about 1/3 finished. Bought "The Irresistable Revolution" by Shane Claiborne. 9. Wrote six paragraphs about June 22-24, 2006. Strange the letters we wish to send but can't. 10. Met David McKenna for dinner at California Pizza Kitchen. David is one of my best friends and I think we're both reminded of this every time we hang out, which is not often enough. We make each other laugh, which is good. I heard Bono say once that laughter is the evidence of freedom, which means that laughter can be a pretty important thing. 11. Went w/ David to see "A Might Heart", which stars Angelina Jolie. Both of our credit cards were denied, which was embarrassing because the line was ten miles long. But then we found out that we were just doing it wrong, and our cards worked, and we felt better. 12. Watched the movie, and thought about India and my life the entire time. It was similar to how I felt watching Spiderman 3. When it was over, I had no idea if it was good or not. I was only certain that I had seen a movie about my life (minus the super powers). "A Mighty Heart" was really heavy but really good. I felt like I was there. 13. Walked out of the movie and could not find David's car. Thought it was stolen, which I believe we both quietly thought was kind of cool, but it turned out that we had just forgotten where it was parked. Which is less cool, but certainly better in the long run. 14. It was now 12:30am and someone asked us "What are you guys doing tonight?", to which I responded "We just did it", and then David and I went on to talk about how it's funny how that question (and the answer) changes as you get older, or maybe just as your priorities, what you hope to find, changes. 15. Got my pizza out of the trunk of David's car, which was cool because I got to say "Hey, I have to get my pizza out of your trunk." 16. Gave David a hug and drove back to Satellite. 17. Arrived home to find that my copy of the book "The Only Road North", by Erik Mirandette, had arrived.
And then today... 1. Woke up thinking about the Mermaid Parade at Coney Island, which is today. 2. Said a prayer and read my Bible. 3. Shower, Email, MySpace, Laundry, called my dad, Emily is not feeling well... 4. Went to lunch. Brought a book but didn't read it. 5. Got fitted for a tux for my sister Jessica's wedding. The guy who helped me was old and kind and he made me smile. I thought about my sister and her wedding, and my dad and I in matching tuxes. 6. Went to Sprint store. Looked at Motorola Q phone. They told me it would cost a lot. So I called Sprint and told them I didn't want to pay a lot (told them I would leave to join Team iPhone), and they said okay. So they're mailing me the Q, and hopefully it's Mac-compatible. 7. Went to coffee shop where I always go. Listening to new Interpol, over and over. I let the coffee shop borrow the CD, and they put it on, which made me happy, and then an old guy at the table next to me asked that they turn it down, which made me sad. 8. Going to do some reading. Then going to visit my parents, then going to get stuff ready because we leave tomorrow. Might write tonight.
