Band Spotlight: A.O.N

October 21st 2008 00:46
One of my favourite sites right now is myspace. Why, you may ask, when there are so many other sites such as Facebook to suck you right now?
Well, it's simple- unlike
Facebook, myspace strongly centres around entertainment, in paerticularly marketing themselves as a stepping stone for up and coming
local and not so local bands, as well as the big boys and girls, who have already made it.

Myspace allows bands to get their names out there, to be heard, and allows music lovers to discover bands that they might not stumble across otherwise. That's reason enough for it to be one of my favourite site to surf, and with good reason.

This time it's Melbourne rockers
A.O.N that have caught my eye -

So what is it about this band that has sucked me in? Apart from the fact they play hard rock with a passion and enthusiasm that seems to be lacking these days, they also have talent.

A.O.N describe themselves as five best mates, who share the same dream to express themselves through their rock music.

Recently completing the recording of their new EP 'Trade Your Guns For Shovels' (2008), they are now looking to pick up some shows supporting both Australian and International Acts throughout the country.

At a time when pop punk was still today's hardcore, they shared the stage with Kisschasy, Kid Courageous and Bodyjar.

More recently they've returned to their roots and played Run Baby Run and Johnny Cut Corners; two bands that are fairly unknown. But despite their anonymity, like A.O.N they help to make up the backbone of Australian music.

A.O.N's aspiration is 'Believe in them, with the same passion and respect as they do for every band they share a stage with.'
It's a statement that stands out- showing who they are not just as a band, but also as individuals.

Their motto: Believe In What We Play.

For all Melburnians into hard rock and wanting to support some of our local talent, A.O.N have two up and coming shows:
