Who Gives Kudos:

Thursday, January 01, 2009
The other night my brother and I were talking about challenges we faced over the past year. He said, "no matter what, it's so important that we keep our swords up and march forward without fear." He held his arm up as he said it, as if there were an imaginary sword, in his hand, a light dancing from the blade.
He was so cute, it was such a guy thing to imagine for the coming new year, I really loved it.

However, the more I started to think about it, something didn't resonate with me. The image of moving forward turned me on, but being a girl, the sword made me think of the future as a fight, and I don't think any of us are really all that interested in going into battle anymore. Being a person who believes that imagining something is the birth of manifesting it, I replaced the sword in my hand with a beacon of light, just like the statue of Liberty.
What could be a better symbol of inner freedom?

We don't need to fight personal battles anymore. In fact, we need now more than ever, to find our light, and help lead the way for others who are struggling to find theirs.

We find out light when we put down our grieviences, and replace them with forgiveness. Forgiving restores our sanity, and puts us in the mind-set of wiping the slate clean, starting over from the point of where we are, right here and right now. It gives us peace. The minute we commit ourselves to letting go of worn out illusions that we have allowed to define us, we will find that we're no longer searching for the light, but that we become the light.
We're all in this together. Life isn't a competition, but a celebration. We don't need to worry each other to the finish line; we can put our hand out and champion each other to it.

Let this coming year be the year that you let go of fear, and doubt. Let this New Year be the year you create your dreams, and see them to reality. Let this year be the year that you find faith, love, and knowing, because there wisdom in all of us.

I promise that you are not alone. God is real, and his peace is yours. Commit yourself to this New Year as a lover of life, let go of the things that torture your beautiful mind, and watch what happens.

Friends, have a beautiful, restored, renewed, loving, and powerful 2009.

Let's put down our swords, and pick up our lights, shall we?

Shine On,

Cat

HI CAT!
Blessings and Happy New Year! Got a great feeling about the upcoming year!
I have become great friends with a female crew member on OLTL(we've been
great friends several years) and she and I spent a great "girls" weekend last
May and talked and talked about believing in reaching for what you want and
believing it will happen.
WHEN WE ARE READY TO REACH OUT AND ACCEPT IT!
It does come to us.
I think we block our own blessings with our negativity and
fear of change and unbelief(all that stuff we need to throw out with 2008!).

Anyway, I wanted to make a major change in my life in where I lived, and
had hesitated, blah, blah,----WHEN I said, "I'm ready to do this, and I'm going
to do this!", all I can say is it was like the Gates of Heaven opened.
The place
opened up, the money became available, the help became available to move,
there were miracles after miracles, and if I ever needed a reminder of what a
GREAT GOD we serve, I got it. Is everything always perfect? No.
I lost my oldest
son 5 years ago to a drunk driver at age 30--a brilliant and loving writer and poet.

Yet it was through his death and certain wonderful people that I've met many other
wonderful people who have helped me find better directions for my life and believe
it could happen. Do I wish he were here. Of course.
But someday I will know why
God chose to take him so early.
But God has given me many blessings in the form
of family and real friends-the kind you can count on! One last thing.
I hate the
commercialization of Christmas, but love the family thing.
This year my middle son
and his wife and 2 kids(ages 4 & 2, who OWN ME) had to remain in Chicago.
I have
another son here who is single and 28 and a doll.
We don't get a lot of time together,
but of course we would spend Christmas together--just the two of us.
I cried and
had a pity party that it only be us two!! GUESS WHAT! One of my best Christmas's
EVER!! This 28 year old young man walks into my house with a velvet box, and
says "Open it, mom". It was a string of real pearls. I was a single mom for yrs.
I
said "I've never owned anything so nice", and his response was"I want you to have
nice things! Then he took me to dinner, we had a great time catching up, went to
a cool movie, had lots of laughs, and he took me home around 8 and I loaded him
up with cookies and cake I had baked just for him, and off he went to see a
young lady, or so I heard!! God's Blessings and Lessons come in many ways!!
Your friend, Kathy on West Coast(somewhere!)

You are so on target with this message my dear friend. I believe in all that you say. Being someone whom in the past year has struggled with many demons, have come out to the light that shines on for us all. You just have to find it. Some people will allow themselves to be kept down and that does no good for the soul. It is when you continue to move forward and put aside the negativity and see that there is a reason for everything that you begin to not only heal within but ti flourish as well despite what may be going on around you.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel! Some choose to see it and reach for it while there are those who can't mustard the strength to reach for it. I say to everyone reach out to it and it shall be yours.

I have gone through alot this year (see my blogs) and although at times the darkness wanted to shadow over me, it is my faith in God above whom leads me on the journey that I take. The key is to not stay in the darkness but continue to the light for it shines and radiates for us all. We just need to find it within everything that we do so that we don't become prey and continue to fall but pick ourselves up and move forward as I have done.

I Thank you for the beauty you show and send to others.

Excellent article, Cat! I understand the point your brother was making though with just simply being prepared to defend yourself.

Happy New Year to you!

Love! Bill

Y'know what, Cat? You are absolutely right on the mark here! When I was growing up, we trusted our neighbors to look out for us. We took care of our loved ones, which included our neighbors during difficult times. That's how we shared the light with others. In today's generation, we've lost our way because the light has been blown out by frivolous lawsuits, gang shootings over territories, etc.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful thoughts on this issue. God bless you, and Happy New Year to you and yours! Your friend, Diane, from San Antonio, TX.
