Here is is. I took me over a month to really compile and such, but I'm happy with the results. I created it in the same manner as the original tracks list. It was tedious as shit.

1.Boy From School (Erol Alkan's Rework) – Hot Chip

I once read somewhere that Erol just gave the original "room to breathe" in this remix, and if you really look at things, it's true. Almost every element of the original song is present at some point, but never really all together. Of course, on top of it being derived from one of the best singles of 2006, Erol's rework adds elements to the song that just seemed to be undertones of the original, and actually end up highlighting it's greatness. The sappy, moody, drifting synth melodies are just absolutely entrancing at a certain point, and if you mix that with a steady beat and hi-hat shuffle, you've got yourself one hell of a track.

2. In White Rooms (Mexico Mix) – Booka Shade

I think its strange that a group I was so hell bent on disliking (due to hype) has this kitten-like effect on me. It's like, they could shit on the carpet and I'd only be mad for a tiny bit before I was back to swooning over them. This is the song that really set in stone Booka's place in my heart. Although it's a remix, its very true to the original and uses a lot of the same sounds, just in different ways. Its got such a great bounce to it that I can't help but sort of mentally spring to life when I hear it. And as every good dance song should, it has an amazing breakdown. When the bass synth drops back in after the breakdown, I can hardly contain myself. That is probably the best 10 seconds of music I've heard all year.

3. Never Be Alone – Justice Vs. Simian

God damn. Any song that you can scream the chorus at the top of your lungs is a good song, for one. Its even better if you can do after hearing only a minute of the song—on the first time you've ever heard it. Its just such a pop song at heart, and that makes sense considering the original was from a French pop group. WHO KNEW? Justice just take it and give it some dance floor zazz. They slap a funky bass line on it and basically let it rip, shipping it all over the world to rooms full of hot, sweaty kids that just want to be friends and have a good time. Hands down the most memorable track of 2006.

4. Ride A White Horse (Ewan Pearson Disco Odyssey Parts 1 and 2) – Goldfrapp

Ewan Pearson has always sort of been a dark horse favorite to me. I really enjoy, essentially, everything he has put out and his track always give me those first listen jitters because they're just so solid. This track is just so epic that I couldn't dismiss it as just "really good." Admittedly, I'm probably more amused with long, track based songs than most people, but in terms of someone who likes Techno, I have a pretty short attention span (hence Villalobos not littering my lists). This track really grabs me and then lets me rest for a minute or so at the 8 minute mark then gives me a stern look, a pat on the back, and a push back into the mess. Its really just that engrossing. I also really like the vocals on this song, actually. Go figure.

5. Waters of Nazareth (Erol Alkan's Dur Dur Durrr Re-Edit) – Justice

Oh Erol, you seem to basically hit a home run every time you step up to the plate. Not only that, but from what I've read in interviews, you have a lot of the same opinions and intentions as I do with regard to music and Djing. One such opinion is that you should do something new with a remix, but be respectful and true to the original work. This is a pretty perfect example. Anything less than the original Justice overdrive would be lackluster and a disappointment. So Erol says, "Fuck it. I'm just gonna use that." It totally works. He basically just gives us a different angle on the original Electro mayhem and that's a good thing. I'd also say that he gives it a little bit of funk? Maybe.
