Current mood:  impervious
The Village Greene in Smithville just had it's very first show in "The Music On The Greene" series.  It was so strikingly out of place in a town that always seems to pander to the 55 and older crowd.  It was loud.  It was energetic.  It was so undeniably refreshing that Lucy and I couldn't peel the smiles from our faces.  It was as if our musty little town took off it's granny dress and changed into jeans and Chucks.  But, if it were up to a few of our neighbors, it would have been the last show. Smithville's notorious petulant crack pots demanded that the show be stopped immediately. Simply put, some of our neighbors hate us.  They fear we will corrupt their children.  They fear we will change Smithville.  They fear we will bring an undesirable element to Smithville (that means you).  Some of our neighbors hate YOU.  They hate your music.  They hate your hair.  They hate your clothes.  These hateful, fearful, small-minded, pinch-faced,ugly,old,bitter, miserable MOTHERFUCKERS think they can impose their personal taste on the entire town with bully tactics.  They think they can force their will through intimidation.  Now for the really funny part:  Wanna know who these tough guys are?  It's a couple of  soccer moms with below average intelligence and an old man.

When you're done laughing, read on.

Yeah, we laughed too.  In fact, we're still laughing.  But seriously.  This is your town too. It doesn't just belong to the soccer moms and the zombified geriatrics.  They may out number you--but you can run faster...and you dress better .  So, come out and support Music On The Greene.  It's free...it's cool...and it will teach those fuckers not to mess with Underground!

Curious to know what shop owners are rallying against you and your favorite store?  Decorum prevents me from naming them here.  But, ask me.  I'll be happy to tell you.  Knowledge is power!

They're just upset at the lack of mom-jeans available at your store. Don't let them get you down.

Fuck those who want to tear you down for no better reason than your hair.

I think i will have to attend one of these shows just for the pure joy of pissing off thy neighbors and rubbing the possible future of your town in their faces. (: and of course for the music, the clothes and the good time.

Mom-jeans...LOL!!  I wish I was there so that I could support "Music on the Greene" in person...I'd be there with big hair, Chuck Ts and my favorite Ramones shirt (which I bought from you guys).  Thanks for breaking the norm of Smithville - it's needed it for a long, long time.  If only this had been around when I was growing up...but it's a joy to see more cool square pegs in the midst.  ROCK ON UNDERGROUND - friggin love you guys!  :-)  Next time I'm home for a visit, I'm there!!

Would so like to teach those "soccer moms" that just because you are mother doesnt mean you have to stop being cool - I have 2 kids - and I love to wear my Underground clothes with pride - even sport your sticker on my motorcycle helmet!

So funny how when we were all younger we thought when we grow up, those that tease us now will stop. They might have stopped teasing us, now they just form committees and hide behind being a parent in order to squash our way of life. Screw 'em! We might just have to take a trip to the Village Greene one fine Friday night to show our support of the bands and you guys! Rock on.

Funny...Lucy and I were just saying the same thing.  Remember the movie "Heathers" with Winona Ryder.  What's going on in Smithville right now is like an ugly middle-aged version of "Heathers."  When I was young I always found a weird sense of satisfaction in being disliked by most of my peers.  Many, many years later, nothing has changed.  I still relish in the venom of ass wipes like these.  Their hate and disgust makes me feel all warm and smiley inside.

Soccer moms are easy to deal with. Just walk up behind them, bend them over and shove it in dry. They try to fuck you and you just turn it on them. ;)

No Control

Honestly I don't think they are bitchy because of fear for their offspring. I think it really comes down to insecurity and jealously. They are insecure and unhappy with their own lives and they just want a bunch of people to walk down Misery Road with them. As for the jealousy....well, deep down inside those uptight soccer moms is probably a punk princess just screaming to get out....but again they are too insecure in their own skin that they can't cut loose and enjoy life for fear of what their peers will think.  They are just jealous of all of us fun lovin' Underground fans rockin' out to awesome music without a care in the world!!! So sad for them!!!

hmmm, I could only WONDER who could be complaining, but I wouldn't be surprised if I found out haha Most of the people in my store didn't mind it, wasn't their personal taste, but didn't mind it. I only had one small family who was totally against the music and made sure I knew about it the whole time they were in my store. So I simply told them that I personally liked the music and had no problem with it. They were very nice to me thereafter haha. Congrats guys, it was a nice change of pace and made my 8 o'clock day bareable.

Corner Store Espionage

We just found out about your store, because apparently we live with our heads in the ground, but we're so glad that to know that a store like yours exists in South Jersey. We agree that knowledge is power, but we also believe that we are all responsible for maintaining the scene. Thanks for keeping it alive in South Jersey! Looking forward to seeing what you've got brewing...  - CSE
