Holy Shit!  That Guy's at it again!

I know, I know.  But the reason I'm inundating you today is because I never know when I'm going to be able to check in with you again and I don't want you to feel neglected.

So now, here's what I'm feeling right now!  Ok, so too bad Robert Smith seems to have lost his shit and hasn't turned out a noteworthy song since Wish. but to make up for that there are some great covers of old Cure songs out there for those of us who just can't get enough of Bat Bob from before he went bat shit.

Sorry Bob, I know the truth hurts, but come on.  Come on!  I was gonna say please don't go all Charlotte Sometimes on us now, but actually, PLEASE DO!  I mean, really.  Give us something with substance, because we've been missing it.  I mean, we do have The Cure to thank for a lot of good bands (ok, a handful, I was just trying to keep my flow going) that have popped up in the last decade or so.  (Don't make me whip out a list, coz I will, but it's just tedious.)

So anyway, if you've been suffering the silence, waiting for the next great thing from The Cure, perhaps this will provide some accpetable filler.  Ok, that may just be a little insulting to the artists who've done these remarkable covers of these old Cure greats.  Even if you didn't like these songs the first time around, I urge you to check out these covers now, as they are spot on.  In fact I'd venture to say that each of these is the best cover I've heard of the particular song.  Certainly Why's reinterpretation of Close to Me is utterly magical.  Wayne Coyne, eat your heart out, coz these guys nailed it for reals.  And you are missing out if you don't give it a listen.

Bat for Lashes cover of A Forest is not to be sniffed at either.  Consider that it is one of the songs that is usually destroyed by those insipid "Goth" bands that shouldn't even be allowed near instruments or microphones and then heave a sigh of relief when you hear the first notes of this mildy Baroque rendition come floating from your speakers.  This tasty temptress has really offered up a very tasteful interpretation of this Cure classic.

Bat for Lashes cover comes from a Cure tribute album, Perfect as Cats,  that has yet to be released and I can only hope that some of the other artists do as well with their reworkings, especially seeing that the track list includes some of my all time favorite Cure songs.  I just don't really have time to drown any more talentless hacks in the Hudson.

If you like what you hear, please share the love.  You can be sure there are other Cure fans out there who are lamenting the demise of this once great band, so we need all the help we can get, right.

Thanks for stopping by!
