What ever happened to the old days of KNAC nights? Even after KNAC was gone, some night clubs still rocked one night a week for the hard rockers. No bands! Just a DJ, a dance floor, and good people. I've been asking around, and have'nt found a rockin place like the old days. Are the old days just gone? Do you remember Red Onion Orange on a Sunday Night? Austrialin Beach Club? Gecko's? Even Liquid Lounge? Hell Any of the Red Onions back in the day, Monday nights was Red Onion Riverside, Tuesdays Red Onion Santa Ana, Wednesdays Red Onion Fullerton, Even Thursdays Red Onion Huntington Harbor! Live Bait in Long Beach! Mardi Gras in Long Beach! Jezebels! Marquee! Oh Yea, Lakewood Red Onion! It was the first one. Holy Shit those were some good times!
I know we still got the Rainbow in Hollywood. Where's the local digs?
I know we still got KNAC.COM, but, some of the KNAC nights i've seen are in shit hole bars, with burnt out rockers. I'm still friends with dozens of the old gang, and none of us are burnt out! Thank god for house parties and some of my gigs, other than those we would never see each other.
I want a cool hang out spot again, that plays the Rock N Roll to dance to and party to.
I'm done.
What brought this on you ask, I had a dream of the old days, and I miss them, and I miss you guys!

Lady Jane's in Montrose!  We used to go there after our volleyball league to shoot pool and grink kamakazies.  Then there was the time when we had a late game time, so we decided to go BEFORE our game....

What ever happened to The Leather Nun?  Thrasher?

Gods I miss waking up to my clock-radio playing Angel of Death because THAT'S WHAT THEY WERE PLAYING ON KNAC!  Now I just listen to songs gone by and that damn monotoned voice on Jack. :(  Is there an "Internet clock-radio" where it will go off and start playing KNAC.COM?

I  remember those days too. they were the best  ! But sad to say gone. you can't get the youngins' together like that today, because it aways ends up with some one fighting over something.  I've seen it way to many times. That's why no one does it anymore.

I for one wish they would.

The thing I remember about KNAC nights where drunk hot chicks and dudes with long hair.

I only went a few times to Red Onion, and once to Gecko's.

The sunset strip in the 80's was the same.....drunk ****really hot chicks****.  Wild times around there.

But, ya, that was a fun scene of people.  Where did they all go? ha ha!!

It sounds like the only thing left to do is bring the old days back from the forgotten.  Why don't you get together with the powerful forces you keep in your back pocket and start organizing your own KNAC nights.  You know dj, you know bar owners, you know how to advertise.  Negotiate a cut from the house and become the marketing whore we all know you love to be.  I'm sure your head is already spinning with ideas.  So I'll just plant the seed and come back later to see what's grown.  >:)

Hey Mike, I remember those days. I used to hang out at the the Rainbow Club way back when the Ramones first came out and Quite Riot. Those where the days partying with the band memebers in their hotel rooms and staying up all night. One time we ended up with Brian & Steve from Iron Maiden. Oh did I mention I was one of those hot chicks with big hair & spandex pants and KNAC stickers one the windows of my car. Anyway, thanks for the memories LOL.

Don't forget Red Onion in Lakewood on Tues. nights I think it was. That was the first of them all I had ever gone to when I was about 23. I was hooked. I went to a place called Surf City Saloon last night. (Sun.) in Huntington Beach. Sundays are called: 'A tribute to Liquid Lounge' Good rockin' but it was a rat hole fuckin' place w/burned out mother fuckers man. And 95% of the women were barn animals fuck. Cows to be exact...........

yo mike,

i completely agree witcha.  i was a red onion riverside regular and was buds with scorchin scotty.   metal is making a big comeback to the mainstream. and this shit-ass station out here (96.7 KCAL rocks) really doesn't.  they think because they have mandatory metallica every nite and the mosh pit on saturdays, they are doin us a favor.  bullshit!  bring back the days of "pure rock", get the airwaves juiced with the sounds of morbid angel, overkill, megadeth,  and the rest of the long haired denim ripped t-shirts and leather jacketed headbangers.  god i miss the good life!

I don't live in the same area as you but it really is true everywhere it seems about there being no real good bars anymore. The best places we have down here are hole in the wall jukejoints...but not place that really rocks.
