DAVE HOUSE [8]
‘INTERSECTIONS’
(BANQUET)
If commercial success was correlated to
charm and songwriting class, ‘Intersections’, The Steal bassist Dave House’s
third solo album, would be a sure-fire bet to go Platinum. On this record, he
sounds more assured than ever. Much like one of his heroes, Billy Bragg, House
isn’t naturally gifted with a brilliant singing voice, but on ‘Intersections’
he sounds charming – marrying his idiosyncratic vocal with marvellous melodies
and lyrics that wittily observe the world around him, and introspectively and
maturely express the man’s personal resolve and insecurities. ‘Intersections’
is a wonderfully endearing, catchy and addictive guitar-pop record, delivered
by an underrated British talent.
