Now that the Christmas tree is on the street lawn or in storage, the Kwanzaa kinara tucked away, and the ink is dry on all those 2007 resolution proclamations, we at Code Z are armed and ready to bring you more news from the art community. We are really ecstatic about our new January issue-The Texas Issue. Be sure to check out our feature story, "Deep in the (HE)art of Texas" featuring five didactic black female artists speaking about the good, the bad, and the ugly and in Austin. Writer and poet A. Van Jordan linked up with Beatrice Thomas, Cauleen Smith, Deborah Roberts, Sharon Bridgforth, and Senalka McDonald to highlight ladies pushing Texas boundaries.

We also gave Houston face and body painter Vonetta Berry Jenkins a Polaroid camera to capture the Texas snap in Houston's Project Row Houses.

The Code Z family extends a special thanks to our all members for your comments, contributions, and continued support in 2006; 2007 will definitely bring you more about happenings in the black visual arts community. This space is essentially a place for you to expound upon the ideals and topics that we present in within our news source. Code Z is successful as the contributions that you put forth. We look forward to continuing to build upon open platform for the art world that you create.
Peace and progress in 2007,
