Current mood: cynical
Why, hello, you lovely people!
It has been far too long since I spoke to you last. This is Watty, once again bleeding into the aether. Unfortunately, I don't bring news of upcoming focuspoint shows. Paolo is still toiling away at school and Danny is somewhere in the southeastern US on his Flyrite chopper. I wish I could say that we have new music to bring you, I wish even more that I could say that we're playing somewhere in a town...at all. Nope. However, there is a glimmer of hope.
Jeremy (Puddy to most of you, "the short one" to everyone else) and I have been rekindling the idea of forming an acoustic side project, even going so far as to try to name said project, intending to make this at least a semi-serious venture. Hell, we're not doing anything else musically at the moment! A few names have been brought up, his: "The Side Project" which is taken, "Peripheral Vision" by Jenny (which is also taken), and "We Have a Ridiculously Long Name" by myself, which is not taken, but might be too tongue-in-cheek for what we're aiming for. I love making fun of post-'00 art-indie bands! After putting my son back to bed, pouring a glass of wine, and searching the Internet with these names in hopes of starting a new MySpace Music page, I have no choice but to offer up what may be the only name left that I'm 99% sure is not taken: focusprojekt. It's been growing on me about as quickly as this wine is, and I'm somewhat taken with it now. Here's a list of our current offerings, in sentence order as to not take up more space:
All Mixed Up (311): When I Called it Mine (Subminute: radio); Drive, The Warmth, A Cartain Shade of Green, Earth to Bella, You Will Be a Hot Dancer, and Summer Romance (Incubus); Project O, Alright, We Came Alive, Never Again, Hypocrite, Fading Pain (focuspoint); Running Away (Hoobastank); Rivers of Babylon (as done by Brad Nowell); Send the Pain Below, Point #1 (Chevelle); Brown-Eyed Girl (as done by Lagwagon...ish); Wait (pre-fp, by Watty); Pennyroyal Tea (Nirvana); Get It Faster (Jimmy Eat World); Whatsername, Time of Your Life, and Christie Road (Green Day); Suicidal Dream (Silverchair); 1979 (Smashing Pumpkins); I Will Survive (as done by Cake, hopefully w/Allie singing); Zombie (the Cranberries); Long as I Can See the Light (CCR); Diary of Jane (Breaking Benjamin); Statues, Stranger Things Have Happened, For All the Cows, and Hey, Johnny Park! (Foo Fighters); Cancer (My Chemical Romance); One, Inside Us All (Creed); So Happy (Seether); Scavenger Type (NOFX). Non-coffeeshop songs: Mary (Sublime); Fuck Her Gently, Jesus Ranch (Tenacious D); Family Reunion (Blink-182); Together On the Sand (NOFX); etc....
Yeah, most of our shit consists of covers, but I'm working on a few new songs just for this venture, and who doesn't want to hear Watty and Puddy harmonizing on "Fuck Her Gently"? I know Amber Chantry does, and gets wet when we do "Drive." Haha, just kidding....right? Problem being, we have to get out of family-friendly venues when we do the "bad songs".....hey, we do birthday parties, shindigs, and bar/bat mitzvahs! Yeah, I'm shooting for the Tractor Tavern for our "somewhat" inaugural gig. Wish me luck, and cross your fingers!
Anywho, this really is the latest info on focuspoint. No new songs, no new gigs, just a side project to feed the egos of the only two members who want to perform on a regular basis! Keep an eye out for a myspace page!
Till....whenever,
Watty
