In the latest issue of Drunken Master zine #11 I interview LA band Sid Brown. Musically one of the most entertaining rockers I have heard in a long time. Despite major lineup changes Sid brown continues to develop. Most of what I find interesting about Sid Brown is covered in the interview but it is difficult to fairly portray the most important audio and visual aspects of the experience in limited black and white pics without a soundtrack so I am taking this opportunity to create a sort of Bonus Feature to the printed article. The link below will send you to Sid Brown's MySpace page where you can listen to the most recent tracks. These uncredited pics were taken at Crazy Girls, Hollywood August 12 2009.

I think if i were to just verbally explain what a Sid Brown show is like with
the female dancers, Sid himself topless (that's right - man nipples), the alcohol & drugs and
the general party vibe it would come off as cheesy or maybe as some
sort of early 80's party rock revival but there is definitely something
else going on. A sort of 21st century religious Friday night fish-fry fervor quality brilliantly free-flowing
underneath the sex, drugs and rock n' roll.

Drunken Master: A lot of your music is about sex drugs and rock n’ roll. Is there any irony in Sid Brown?
Sid Brown: Irony? No. It’s just fun. So however you want to interpret that.
DM: So we could take the music pretty literally?
SB: It’s very literal. It’s very literal.
DM: Is Sid Brown party music?
SB: Sid Brown is all about the party. Sid Brown is about the
celebration of life through rock n’ roll and rock n’ roll is a party.
Drunken Master: It’s hard not to notice you also have half naked ladies on stage with you.
Sid Brown: Everyone enjoys a beautiful woman. So …
DM: Have you ever tried using half naked men?
SB: No but I thought about it. I actually interviewed one hundred different dancers off of Craigslist before deciding on the two and I’d say 20% of them were men. But at the end of the day I don’t want to watch a guy dance I want to watch a woman dance. So I’m kind of projecting what I would want. Most people are more comfortable- man or woman, gay or straight- watching women more as far as dancing goes.
