Jim Ross has updated the Q&A section on his official website, JRsbarbq.com, and he defends wrestlers using Chris Benoit's former finishing hold, the "Crippler Crossface." Ross said, "Benoit wasn't the first man to use a cross face. Why do wrestlers use a headlock? It's a hold that works even though it was made famous by Ed 'Stranger' Lewis in the early 1900's." Ross also snaps at a reader who wrote (20 times) that he wanted to see Undertaker's WrestleMania streak end. Ross wrote, "Are you an idiot? You have sent me this email so many times it is sad. Please cease and stop embarrassing yourself. I swear you sent this 20 times word for word. Thank you." He also comments on why Stevie Richards failed to acheive more success in WWE. "You've placed Stevie in esteemed company. It simply may have been the 'it' factor as he was a great guy who I loved being around," Ross said. "I hope he finds the success he wanted in wrestling now in his post wrestling career. Guys like Stevie Richards would make great members of a creative team." Other topics discussed include whether J.R. keeps up with the indy wrestling scene, Brock Lesnar, and former Mid-South broadcaster Boyd Pierce. You can read his latest Q&A at http://www.jrsbarbq.com/jrs-qa
Ross on rumors of Undertaker retiring soon: "We are getting a ton of emails about the retirement of The Undertaker. I have heard NOTHING about this matter and would bet a black hat and a slab of ribs that 'Taker wrestles a few more years. Plus, for the record I don't ever see the Undertaker losing at a Wrestlemania no matter who he wrestles."

-- Ross on JBL: "JBL has been in the eye of the storm this week as far as 'rasslin gossip is concerned which sort of goes with the turf these days. Nonetheless I am impressed with how much weight John has lost over the past several months and I do know that his Mamajuana Energy Drink has been an important aspect of his weight loss which is getting close to a whopping 100 pounds. Obviously the product works and John has told me that taking it has helped him maintain his workouts which are a must to go along with common sense eating."

-- Ross on Ron Simmons being inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame: "Congrats to Ron Simmons for his induction into the College Football Hall of Fame. Ron was a real stud at Florida State and a legit 3 time all American. One man never blocked the dominating nose guard including my Sooners who hooked up twice against Ron's FSU Seminoles in the Orange Bowl. The celebration for Ron becoming the first African American World's Champion in WCW that was held at the CNN Center was something special of which to be a part."

The E! Channel's popular clip show The Soup featured WWE in their special The Soup Presents - "Dudes, Bro---The Whacked Out Men of Reality TV" episode that aired this past Monday night. The clip features WWE Raw stars Randy Orton and Manu (and Cody Rhodes by Manu's side) in a backstage segment forehead to forehead apparently moaning at one another. Following the airing of the clip, The Soup host Joel McHale said, "In 30 years of watching wrestling, this is by far the creepiest and most homoerotic thing I've ever seen." The clip originally aired on an episode of The Soup a few weeks ago. In case you missed it, The Soup Presents episode featuring the clip of Orton & Manu replays tonight at 6:30 p.m. ET.

Alfonso Castillo of Newsday.com has just posted some highlights from a roundtable discussion he took part in with "The Wrestler" star Mickey Rourke. Here are some highlights: On whether he tried to achieve the look of a certain wrestler: "Yeah, like Lex Luger. And then when we Googled him, we were surprised to see how he ended up." On meeting Roddy Piper at a screening: "He went on to pay us like highest compliments that we could wish for. And actually he got a little emotional about it. And it was kind of like, it was hard holding this guy and hearing him and talking back to him and understanding where he's been – the journey that he's been on and all the others that were like him. Because when your time has come and gone and that's the only thing you know, you can't go and be a godd--- bus boy somewhere. You just can't do it. And the options aren't a lot. And it's not very pretty." On what wrestlers he became close with during the movie: "Mainly, Dwayne Johnson's uncle. His name is Afa. He was one of the Wild Samoans back in the 80s. And I talked to The Rock the other day I told him, 'We're sending you [the movie] and we want to hear what you have to say, too.' And I didn't know it was his uncle. All the Samoans say they're related to each other. I thought when Afa's going on about his 'nephew,' 'Yeah, every Samoan is related to Dwayne Johnson.' And they are related. And when he spoke very fondly of him, it was like, 'Wow.' On learning to wrestle: "We had choreographed the wrestling matches pretty basically [with moves] that any half-assed athlete could do. And then what started to happen after about like two and a half months was, one of the guys was very gymnastically inclined. He, like, got bored and started doing these f---ing moves. And I thought, 'Wow. Man, I want to do that.' So I'd go in on Sundays with him alone and do it and not tell Darren. And so what I said was, 'I want to nail three or four f---ing moves that nobody could do.' And I got so hurt. I had three MRI's in two months. I've never flipped over in my life – like done back flip and a scissors into the ring. And I couldn't do it. Weeks would go by and I couldn't do it. And then you finally… If you work hard enough at anything in your life, you're going to f---ing do it." Rourke also talks about similarities between his life and that of his character in "The Wrestler," and his intense training regimen to look transform into a pro wrestler.

During a conference call promoting the Tribute to the Troops show airing on NBC next week, John Cena was asked about WWE's recent "news story" on Jeff Hardy being found unconscious prior to the Survivor Series pay-per-view in Boston last month being reported in the same context as a legitimate news story. "I didn't hear anything about that," Cena said before a reporter refreshed his memory. "Oh yeah. I can't believe CNN actually picked that up right? ... I don't know how to tell you this, but WWE stands for World Wrestling Entertainment. Have I answered your question?" Cena was also asked about this Sunday's Armageddon pay-per-view. "I'm just really, really happy to be back. I don't like sitting on the sidelines," Cena said. "I'm glad I could go on this Tribute to the Troops trip. I'm glad I could come back for Survivor Series, especially, and win the world heavyweight championship. And for me, this being my first heavyweight title defense on pay-per-view, those are always really, really important matches for us. So I just want to show the WWE fans that I haven't lost it. I haven't lost a step. I'm as healthy as I ever was. I'm as strong as I ever was. And I just don't want them to have any doubts about me." Cena also spoke out on the WWE Divas being the stars of the annual Tribute to the Troops tour, his new T-shirt being a take-off of the old AWA logo, and more.

In an interview with SLAM! Wrestling, former WWE star Mike "Mikey" Mondo commented on his experience as a member of the Spirit Squad. "To be honest, with the Spirit Squad, I didn't know what to expect or think, but personally I loved the gimmick," Mondo said. "All five of us embraced it and did everything we could to make it work and I think we did a very good job. My time with the Spirit Squad was probably the most fun I've had in my career so far." Mondo also comments on his journey to WWE, wrestling TNA star Jay Lethal on the indy scene on his way up, what he's been up to since his departure from WWE, and more.

Yesterday was  former ECW star Sabu's birthday. He turns 44 years old.

Current UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar will be returning to his roots as he is scheduled to make an appearance at an Ohio Valley Wrestling show in Louisville, Kentucky on Wednesday, January 7, 2009. He will be doing a special autograph meet & greet during his return to the Davis Arena. Ticket prices are $30 in advance and $40 the day of the event. In 2000, after ending college, Lesnar signed a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment and Lesnar was sent to its developmental territory at the time, Ohio Valley Wrestling. There, he groomed his wrestling skills, which led to him getting called up to the main roster and winning the WWE Championship on three occasions. OVW commentator Kenny Bolin sent out the following statement regarding Lesnar's upcoming appearance. Hello Every Body! As many of you may already know,,,,i was quite critical of Brock Lesner a few weeks ago on my 1 Rated Radio segment @ "Who's Slamming Who" a few weeks ago. I may also have mentioned that i had got the better of Brock Lesner a few times in his days at OVW and a few other stories he may not have wanted me to tell. Well,... to my surprise and by special arrangements made by OVW owner Danny Davis, Brock Lesner is returning to the Davis Arena for a one night special appearance and meet and greet Jan 7th. Doors open at A SPECIAL 3pm start time for the meet and greet. Go to www.OVWrestling.com for details of the Historic Event and where to get tickets. Ticket prices are $30 in advance and $40 the day of the show. Tickets will go very fast and we are expecting an all time record breaking crowd due to his limited appearances in this area. I will also add that i can assure you i will have a HUGE surprise for Brock Lesner if he even thinks of looking my way in a negative fashion. We hope to see ya there for this once in a life time night at Davis arena @ 4400 Shepherdsville Rd. Louisville Ky. You will NOT want to miss this!!! kenny bolin OVW
