May as well post this here. Needless to say I'm no music journalist. I probably forgot a few, but anyway, in no particular order...

Envy - Insomniac Doze
A bit more post-rock than before, so I can see why some people found it a bit bland, but I just love it. They just do it SO well and the production is ridiculously good. One of the hugest sounding albums I've ever heard.

Mogwai - Mr Beast
Again I can see why some people didn't like this but I think it's bloody brilliant. Most incredible live band ever.

Subtle - For Hero, For Fool
One of the best things I've heard from the Anticon lot. Poppy but highly sophisicated at the same time.

Amusement Parks On Fire - Out Of Angeles
Huge sounding atmospheric rock. Was an amazing album for the summer. Really beautiful.

Joanna Newsom - Ys
Completely different from her old stuff. Wonderfully written, epic songs. Orchestral arrangements done by Van Dyke Parks (did stuff with Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys).

Hot Chip - The Warning
Amazing pop music. The vocals are beautiful. Extremely dancey at the same time as having great melodies and just really good songs.

The Album Leaf - Into The Blue Again
Just really nice to chill to, perfect for Autumn time when it came out. He's really come into his own, much more than just a solo project now.

Ampere - All Our Tomorrows End Today
I think this was 2006 anyway. Ex-guitarist of Orchid. A bit like Hot Cross crossed with Orchid I guess. Great guitar work, nice choppy short energetic songs.

Gallows - Orchestra Of Wolves
Awesome to see a local band getting so big off this, one of the few bands in this country of this genre who really deserve everything they get. So passionate.

Hot Club De Paris - Drop It Til It Pops
Fun, fast, catchy...s'all there is to it.

Brand New - The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me
Having matured even further, we could only expect something EVEN MORE depressing, but it's sill good. Some of their best songs are on here. A lot more diverse than they've been before.

Gregor Samsa - 55:12
Give Sigur Ros a reeeeal run for their money, beautiful dual male/female vocals. Feature Brendan who was in City of Caterpillar and ex-members of other hardcore bands.

Fionn Regan - The End Of History
Loooovely poppy folk. Just lovely songs, lovely voice and lovely guitar playing. Really nicely produced with some really subtle backing instruments and harmonies in there exactly when they're needed.

Haram - S/T
I haven't heard any discussion on here about them, they are ex-members of Majority Rule / Pg.99 / CoC. Intense discordant punk type stuff. Stunning live when they toured in August.

Broken Social Scene - S/T
Such a brilliant band, I don't know how they do it. Awesome pop songs but also so effortlessly cool. Album is actually quite diverse, even a bit of hip hop in there, and it works so well. Mindblowingly good live.

Make Believe - Of Course
I was in love with this album for a while, just could not stop listening to it. Incredibly quirky and unique sound, especially in the guitar playing. Tim Kinsella is a complete nutter.

Owen - At Home With...
Barely any different than his old stuff, other than better production this time round. However, his songs are just so lush it's impossible not to love it. Just seems so effortless.

Perth Express - S/T
Furiously agressive crusty punk/hardcore. Saw them supporting Haram and Kaospilot and had never heard them, and they totally blew me away. SO heavy and fast. Like Beecher, Botch, Coalesce combined plus copious amounts of energy.

Also, Foals generally for being unbelievably good even though they haven't properly released anything apart from the debut 7". Klaxons' new stuff is also really good, so much better than their first few songs. Some more good releases which deserve a mention... Jeniferever, Metric, The Spinto Band, Joan Of Arc, Young Widows, meWithoutYou, Converge, Errors, Justin Timberlake, Mystery Jets, Isis, The Ladies, Eluvium, Life At These Speeds, Knut, Architects, Cutting Pink With Knives, Misery Signals. --> -->
