Remembering What’s Important
Recently, our country celebrated Memorial Day, to honor
those who served and gave their lives fighting for freedom and defending our
country.
Memorials are so important…because remembering the people,
institutions, or events that have impacted or blessed our lives also help us
remember God’s goodness in our lives…and inspire us for our futures.
When we remember those who have touched our lives in a positive
way, we immediately feel that warmth…a smile may blossom, or a tear may come to
our eye. These emotions let us
know that the positive impact of a person or event never dies!
The memories of people and places we hold dear gives us a
little “push” of joy, gratefulness, and good feeling. They are mini-“pick-me-ups” that we can experience at any
point during the work of our daily life.
Whether it is a former school teacher… a favorite coach… a
beloved family member… a faithful
friend… a school where we spent many happy years… a wonderful pastor or church
home…
We can give God thanks for so many things. And it doesn’t take a special holiday
to honor someone who’s impacted our lives in a special way. We can do that every day – and in fact,
we should remember to thank God for everything and everyone He’s brought into
our lives at least once a day!
Why not take time today, and someone, or something, that has
touched your life? You’ll be
surprised at how taking the time to give thanks will bless and inspire you to
continue to meet life’s daily challenges! And when you express your thanks to
individuals who have impacted your life, by sending a card or making that
overdue phone call to express your appreciation, you will not only feel
fulfilled but you will put a smile on their face!
Love you guys, until next time…
