Current mood:  pleased
Last night, I finished adding the rest of the books in "the red room" to my catalog on LibraryThing.  The red room is the room in our basement that I consider my "book room," where the great majority of my fiction, poetry, and drama are shelved, in *approximately* chronological order - works by and about the same author together, with each author’s place in the scheme determined by year first book was published.  (I’m considering a modification to this, based on author’s year of birth rather than first publication - but we’ll see.)  There are still a few books in other rooms that fall into the "literature" categories, and I’m not sure they’re all in LibraryThing yet, but most are, and I feel a great sense of accomplishment just to say the contents of my "book room" are ALL DONE.

So how many books do I have?  So far, not as many as I thought.  The current catalog total is 602, so I feel safe guessing that I’ve got roughly 550 in the red room.  I still have anthologies and most of my non-fiction to enter, but since "my" classification system is for imaginative literature by individual authors, what I’ve got in there so far represents my most enduring interest: writings that can put us in touch with the deepest parts of ourselves, or help us to escape "the real world," or learn about people and places we’ve never seen and perhaps never CAN see - and all the wild spaces in between our minds and inner selves, and the extreme outer reaches of the universe.

Let’s see if I can link to my LibraryThing catalog:
