Daring and different: Two
of Montreal’s best vocalists team up to celebrate raw artistic talent
in a spectacular live show.
Two of Montreal’s most talented
vocalists and unique musical acts, Amanda Mabro and Elsiane, are combining
their unique styles for a double-header show that promises to offer
something exciting and eclectic to the Montreal music scene. The concert
takes place at Cabarte Juste Pour Rire on Friday, November 27th. Stylistically,
they are an unlikely pairing. Amanda Mabro is a sassy songstress with
a vivacious presence whose latest set of sister EPs Red Rows/Wine
Flows was touted by CBC as being a “groundbreaking piece of pop
music”, while Elsiane’s latest album, Hybrid, has been celebrated
for its rhythmic foundation and intimate haunting vocals.
The common thread is raw
talent. Both Elsiane and Amanda Mabro focus on vocal talent first, supported
by dedicated artistic sensibilities and spectacular live performances.
There is nothing common or ordinary about either of these musicians. By
coming together, they offer something even more daring and different,
reflecting the creative vibe of Montreal by fusing together diverse
sounds and styles.
Amanda Mabro
Amanda has toured Canada
several times, showcased at festivals such as NXNE and the Toronto Jazz
Festival and shared stages with Celine Dion, Arcade Fire, Jorane, Vanessa
Carlton, Raul Midon and Franz Ferdinand. Two rousing performances in
front of 20,000 spectators at the 2008 Montreal International Jazz Festival
prompted the sale of 300 albums in 30 minutes. Her first-ever French
language release, “Nuit Blanche,” was turned into a stunning Tim
Burton-esque music video created by Montreal/Hollywood concept artist
Meinert Hansen and is in rotation on Much Music Canada.

Elsiane
Elsiane has toured Canada and
the US, and has participated in several festivals such as the Toronto
International Film Festival, the International Jazz festival in Montreal,
Osheaga and M for Montreal. Elsiane has collaborated with several artists
such as Delerium, Bookashade, Dredg and has composed the score for the
theme song of the main event celebrating the 400 years of Quebec. Elsiane's
single “Vaporous” was featured as the main theme for the publicity
campain for the QC movie ''Polytechnique''. Elsiane's evocative compositions
organically blend a pop sensibility with influences that range from
classical music to jazz, rock and electronic. ''I'm looking forward
to this event and sharing the stage with a talented Montreal singer
such as Amanda, it's not everyday where you get to have a show that
is all dedicated to the voice''.
