Army Ant
Paid Presentations for International Cola
9 out of 10
Most Australian bands attempting satire get by on cock jokes and four-letter indictments against whatever politicians, corporations and TV shows are least popular at the time. And look, good for them, they’re probably having fun, but on Paid Presentations for International Cola, Army Ant deliver the most deadpan, relevant wit and acidic riffs that I’ve ever seen this side of Andy Falkous. Their intelligence is what sets them apart from the pack, from the advertising concept embedded in “Publicising Ice” to the genius of hooks like those in “Obliterati”. This is pretty much what Children Collide should be doing.
