This month's Question of the Month comes to us from Ryan in Pittsburgh, PA.  He asks, "If you were throwing a party and couldn't be your own musical guest, who would you hire to do that?  Cost is not an obstacle."
I'm going to assume that space is not an obstacle, either.  If time travel is also not an obstacle, I would go with The Beatles as they were in the mid to late 60's - maybe around the time that Revolver came out.

Revolver - Beatles

I don't think any party could go wrong with a live show from The Beatles as the music.  And by the late 60's, their repertoire would be a good mix of their radio-friendly, danceable early material and some of their more artistic songs.  If time travel wouldn't work, I'd settle for a band made up of Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, and various offspring of the Beatles who are no longer with us.
On more possible terms - more current terms - I'd hire a little-known group out of South Carolina called Jump, Little Children (Jump, for short).  They broke up a few years ago, but I think they still do some shows every once in a while.  Their website is still up, but is VERY out-of-date.

I've actually had the chance to meet and talk to some of these guys a few times.  I've seen/heard them play live 4-5 times, and they put on a great live show.  At one show, I actually asked one of them if they do private parties.  He said not really.  Apparently their management didn't let them do parties unless they were paid some gargantuan fee.  Anyway, if these guys ever do shows again, I highly recommend making it a point to catch them live.  Their albums are very good, too...

Many thanks to Ryan for sending out that QOTM.  I have some more left in the Question Bank, but I like to have a big variety from which to choose.  If you have some interesting Questions (or even not-so-interesting ones), please send them my way!  You can do so by simply replying to this Newsletter (or sending me a MySpace message) with your Question, and putting 'QOTM' in the subject line.

If any of you blog readers also like music, I have several CDs available.  My new, Live Album just came out a few months ago, and is currently only available in CD format.  Check it out at the Webshop at JeffMillerOnline.com!  My first 3 albums are also available at iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody, and about 40 other download sites.
