On saturday morning, I left my home of two years, Manchester. Aw, I do love Manchester and it really does feel like home to me now - and I miss it already. Obviously, whenever you leave a place, you miss you friends, your job (if you enjoyed it like I did), your life. But when leaving Manchester, as well as all this, you just miss the city itself! I just love the vibe, the people, the music, the history... I always feel happy when i'm walking around - whether its going down market street on a wednesday night, on my way to sanctus, or strolling through Moss Side, I always feel pleased to be there.
It was great to spend time (even drunken time) with so many good friends on Friday at my leaving do. I think everyone was either connected to Sanctus (www.sanctus1.co.uk) or SPEAK (www.speak.org.uk), or both! Through being involved with both SPEAK and Sanctus, i've met so many amazing friends and learnt so much. Its funny, because after two years I finally feel like i'm settling down, have a great bunch of friends, a life, etc, and now i'm leaving! It seems crazy... but I think this time at home in Sussex will do me good!
I've been living in the north for 6 years now - 4 years in Leeds and 2 years in Manchester. My sleepy Sussex village of Crawley Down is a complete culture shock! I do love living in the city, but I think its good to take a break from it. As well as the obvious bonus of saving money, moving home gives me a chance to think about stuff, before moving onto the next big thing! I don't have a definate plan now, but I kinda like that. I will get a temp job (tomorrow hopefully) and maybe learn to drive! This time next year I intend to either be living in America (i'll write more about this later), travelling, or back in Manchester!
So far, being at home has been good (apart from the missing Manchester bit). I've been unpacking, 'sorting my life out' as I put it, as all my stuff seems to be in a big disorganised mess and there's so much I don't need. My mum keeps saying 'de-clutter' and she's right! I also went to our village pub last night, and today I helped my little brother with his Economics and Business homework! And this weekend, my grandparents are coming up, and the highlight of the weekend is going to the 'tabletop sale' which is basically an indoor car boot sale at the village hall! Woo hoo!!
So I guess things are gonna be ok... I WILL keep in touch with all you Manchester folks - I love you so much, and will be back (visiting at least) before you know it xxxxx
