"To be honest, I'm not clear if today's Band of the Day is indeed a "band" at all, or just a persona. What is clear is that the visionary behind Art Lessing is one Dan Quillan, late of the Sacremento psychedelic collective Eat The People. The music he makes by himself and with "a bunch of anything that he can get his hands on, or make in his workspace that will produce a sound," is nothing short of remarkable - multi-layered instrumentation combining folk music with lysergic production techniques to create a mind/body experience unlike any other that has come before it in the history of genre-expanding pastiche soundscapes. This is the work of a man who has seen the light,…. or some kind of light anyway, which is still more than most mere mortals can say. It looks like there are already at least eight Art Lessing CD's so far. They started appearing in 1991, and have been arriving steadily ever since.
