Unfortunately yes, We had to cancel the A.O.D. (Art of Destruction). Under 1 Condition Show on March 7th 2009......... A very important night came across our schedule. A VERY well known and loved front man of one of the best known bands in the area, who happened to be a personal close friend of mine as well as the half shell family, passed away. We are holding a benefit show that night, that will probably be hands down, the biggest crowd we have ever seen at our venue in well over ten years. This is the only night that all of the original members of his band can be together as one, as each of their other bands are solidly booked. It is sponsored and promoted by our local radio station, magazines, friends and family. The original Duburbia is uniting to play a complete set of their songs with several close and local musicians take the vocals in tribute to our fallen family member of the local scene. We are donating our door sales as well as 15% of our bar sales in hope to be able to reimburse the family for the funeral costs. I'm truly sorry this had to happen. I have been booking the half shell since June 1st of 2006 and this is honestly the first show Ive ever canceled. Ive had plenty cancel on me, but without something close to the heart of hundreds of local fans as well as hundreds of local bands who have shared the stage, i would never cancel a show. The Half Shell is all about supporting local, regional, touring and national acts to the best of our abilities, but in this instance, it is hands down something that we have to do because of the closeness to mine and numerous amounts of people's hearts that are counting on us. I hope you and everyone originally scheduled for March 7th 2009 will understand and keep your thoughts with us instead of against us.
R.I.P. Jeremy "J-Dub" Kelly of Duburbia/Va Beach/Norfolk(OV)/The Half Shell & Each and Every One of your Hearts.....
Thank You for understanding, Ben, Bryan, Kim, Summer, Melissa, Chris & Dennis @ The Half Shell
