BOB FRANK is coming to Otherlands!  Richard Ford opens the show at 8 O'Clock. The legendary Lockwood & McGregor follows next, and then Bob will take the stage with John Murry and Don McGregor.

"The best songwriter you never heard." -- Jim Dickinson

"It's been three decades since Bob Frank's first album, the obscure LP on Vanguard... These songs, this record, Bob Frank: time just ain't a factor." -- Robert Gordon, It Came from Memphis.

If you’re looking for some authentic American songs, you’ll love this. They talk a lot about “folksingers,” but Bob Frank’s the real McCoy. Here’s a guy whose songs have passed into the American sub-culture without ever having been on the radio or TV.

Back in '72 a gifted Memphis singer-songwriter landed a one-album deal with Vanguard Records, and the eponymous Bob Frank -- eventually, a hot collector's item -- earned critical comparisons to Gordon Lightfoot, Ian Tyson and, 'a barefoot Randy Newman.'

Since then Bob Frank has released several albums. He teamed with John Murry to record "Brinkley, Arkansas, and Other Assorted Love Stories" this year. Released on Memphis International in 2008, "Red Neck, Blue Collar" is a great collection of Bob's songs. The title track was covered by Jim Dickinson on his CD Jungle Jim & the Voodoo Tiger.

LOCKWOOD & McGREGOR. Steve Lockwood and Don McGregor flipped a coin twenty odd years ago, to decide who's name went first on the bill and they have been a musical treat at clubs and coffee houses ever since.

“Don McGregor sings from the heart with the voice of an old soul. Probably known best for his satire, it’s the sad-lonesome sweet stuff I like. Don can gently reach out and touch a bar full of easily bored Midtowners and make them think about their Mamas. Part Willie Nelson, part Jerry Garcia... Don also builds a hell of a fine deck." --Jim Dickinson

RICHARD FORD. Richard is a 5-time nominee of the Memphis Chapter of N.A.R.A.S. in the Premier String Player category. He has recorded with a wide array of national entertainers including Ryan Adams, Jed Zimmerman, Gate Mouth Brown, Cory Branan, Jimmy Davis, Alvin Youngblood Hart, Johnny Copeland, The RiverBluff Clan, The Twilight Singers and many many others.

As a songwriter, Richard has written and co-written songs for artists including John Kilzer, Jimmy Davis, and John Cowan. Recently one of Richard's songs was featured on Car Talk, a program on National Public Radio. You see him most often picking bluegrass with 2 Mule Plow.
