Current mood:  anxious
Today, I sent the challenge letter to David Blaine and had my publicist work on the PR for the stunt. Many thoughts and concerns go through my mind. I know I am taking on someone who the public believes is amazing. My manager Lucy said, this will be one amazing treat for everyone with two great masterminds against each other.

I hope that my fans as well as Blains fans will understand my position and actually accept the challenge in a positive light. I believe as entertainers we owe our fans, our viewers, cutting edge entertainment and for us to pour our hearts and souls into our craft.

Here is the letter that was sent to Blaine:

June 15, 2006

Dear Mr. Blaine,

Over the years, I have watched and followed your career since the beginning and the development of your public persona. I have also seen with amazement your numerous television specials and stunts performed throughout the world. As a fellow escape artist and magician, I would like to challenge you to a duel on live television.

After years of studying your techniques, I have come to the conclusion your stunts are lackluster, deficient of creative new ideas and innovative artistic abilities. I feel that our industry demands much more than what you are delivering. We should be pushing the envelope to create thought-provoking illusions that would impact our audience in a way that the great Houdini once did.

The challenge I have created will involve you and I in a duel that will test our skill levels and entertainment values. Each of us, in front of a live audience and national television, has to produce the most dangerous magic stunt and successfully perform it. Once completed, the audience and television viewers will choose whose death-defying performance was most stunning.

Mr. Blaine, it is time for you to step up to the plate and raise the ante. Please contact me so we can discuss next steps in creating the great duel.

Sincerely,

Curtis Eugene Lovell II
