Living Nightmare-
"How do these visceral vocal evils come forth from the esophigal wormholes of little Joe Aguirre? Is Bobzilla structurely human and does he feel mortal pain? Has Richard Vochkov been abducted and raised by rabid gorillas only to be returned in time for this studio recording? And what about Eric Schwhatever (haha)? Is he the test-tube bastard child of every wicked drummer ever born? All this and more on the next Geraldo!!! Alright, alright. Seriously. This band without a doubt is one of the best of the genre in Oregon. The complexity of Vintegaas makes them a standout in the vein of Meshuggah and brutality (whens the last time you heard that band name?). Every twist and turn of the Gaas on this new studio EP appropriately titled Living Nightmare is a journey into the machine that turns local bands into national success stories. This Path is the staple for this 4-piece crew and the song is so unique it will serve as the intro for the resurrected radio show, The Pithosted by yours truly. They are true musicians, these guys are cool dudes and when the wicked winds of the West finally blow thru Portland, Vintegaas will hover about the wreckage proving that a Living Nightmare is better than any local bands wet dream."

VINTEGAAS - Living Nightmare-EP
(Independent)
I always smile when bands from my hometown send me shit. While there are (or at least were) plenty of death metal bands around Portland, OR, Vintegaas play a brand of groove laden DM that is a breath of fresh air in a sea of Cannibal Corpse clones and wiggery nu metal acts. From the sound of things, these guys draw heavily from Brujeria, Carcass, and Krisiun as well as fags like Lamb of God, Biohazard, and Slipknot. This super mosh-ey (Very metalcore/Melodic-death) DM is also highlighted by some bitchin lead work, pinch harmonics and solos. Vintegaas isn't exactly my cup of death metal tea, but I can't deny the quality here. Hell, I would'nt be at all surprised if one of the "major" metal labels picked these guys up in the near future (as this is the "hot" sound these days). Fans of Melodic Death Metal, Metalcore, and the Dimebag/Zakk guitar tone this is for you. :) -NP

-You would think it would be hard to get a feel for a band in only four tracks, but Portland, Oregon metalers Vintegaas prove this theory wrong as the opening track "Hardway" finds its way into my head with its crushing breakdowns and head banging prowess. I love the dose of old school this band has managed to maintain with the "new wave of American metal" taking over current industry trends. There is nothing standard about this band that blends a more modern sound while remaining firmly embedded in their metal roots. The guitars are remarkable in the second track "P.O.S." as it follows a punishing trail which eventually leads you to the breakneck speed and grueling vocals of "This Path." The final track and my favorite yet from this band, is "Virulent." This band shines through on this recording, but they had some help as the production on this is immaculate, and no wonder since it was recorded by our own infamous Chris Finster at Geomana Studios.
